I wonder...
After hearing how poorly Jeff sounds on a couple of boots, notice these things happening?
In an 80 minute show, it's all about cramming in as much shit as possible, right? By shit, I mean songs.
Why, oh why, are these things occuring?
Neal playing the SSB? Takes 4 minutes.
Jon playing a 3 minute keyboard solo?
No BGTY?
They are purposely plotting their show in a very circuitous manner, to be sure.
My guess is Jeff can't do BGTY. Why though, for all that is holy, would Cain play some lolipop piano crap, at a rock show with Def Leppard?
This is not a bag on Jeff thread, frankly because there is nothing to bag on. He simply cannot sing this catalogue, but if ANYTHING happens to Deen, they are screwed.

Dean,
I'm curious as to what you think is going to be in store for the next few months for Journey. It's obvious they are in a world of hurt. Once the tour with Def Leppard ends, they will have to be answering some tough questions regarding the direction of the band.

I agree, wasted time in a short set.

jeff will get more comfortable with the music i would bet,, see what happens after a few more weeks, because as soon as he locks in his voice is banging!! i havent seen the show yet, but if you listen closely to teh boots there are a few bad notes from the band members,, they are rockin that hard,,, its a tough gig though,,
we had heard that aliens had abducted you!! any truth to that?

No BGTY?
There's a good reason for that. See the Charlotte thread.

Damn I must be missing something all together.
I agree that Soto is real rough on some songs but
that's something I fully expected.
I think he does pretty good on most of the stuff
that I have heard.
Guess I really do need to check out a show.
I love Neal's Star Spangled Banner but could do without Cain's solo.

Seriously, no BS?
If Deen doesn't take over lead vox, it's bye bye Journey.
Jeff can't do this, and if he can't sing these songs now, he sure as Hell isn't going to be better at them in 3 weeks. He has sung these songs for years, some for decades.
Augeris isn't an option.
Perry? Probably not.
In my opinion, Deen has to sing lead, out front, or seeya. If Chafalnt can't get this gig after numerous tries, and Vegas boy isn't being hired, unless they hire Jeremy, I see no other option other than Deen.
If I was manager, I would put Deen out front, and double his pay. Hire a drummer, and go for it. I would senf A Better Life to Radio, release it as a single, and go on with Deen as the guy. Pretty simple math...

But hasn't Deen had some vocal problems as well in the past? He's great on a few tunes
in the set, but can he do the whole thing? If not, then what do you do?

Deano,
Its good to see you back bro. I like your enthusiasm and your honesty. You have honor and dignity. You were a 100% for JSS going forward but have changed your view based on data (the boots). I'm with you, JSS kicks ass but based on the boots, can not cover the old material. Journey is indeed screwed without Dean in play on the mic. The best option could possibly be to bring Dean out from behind the drum kit to sing it all. If not, then surely Hugo or Chalfant will be brought in to finish the tour. I will still withhold judgment until Saturday when I hear them first hand at Indy but, if the boots are capturing the true tone, Journey is fucked until another change is made. Bring on Hugo ....
L8r,
Aaron

I would buy into a
Journey lead by
Castronovo
but if he don't want to be the pipes guy what are
they gonna do about changing his mindset?
I just want one freaking post to come out right
without me having to go and egghead edit it

I see MOST of that...but instead of A Better Life I'd have to go with Never Too Late if this were to happen.
Good to see ya back Deano. Was getting kinda boring here without ya.

Jss is a great singer just not for journey !!The venues so far have shown that he needs to stick to his type of music before he gets shunned for this move!!

It's already been stated that JSS is tempoary (Then again...this is from Journey..so I'm not sure if I believe it.lol). I hope so for his vocal health 'cause he IS one hell of a singer. Just not Journey and I don't wanna see him blow out his voice FOR Journey, and not be able to go back solo.
Still excited about Houston on the 30th though.

I would have to agree...

They probably should have gone with Chalfant originally. I can't see Deen stepping out from behind the drums though to sing lead. He's got a great voice, but it would just be weird.

I thought that myself. Augeri was a good choice though. Now it should be Deen IMO if they could talk him into it.

Bingo!! That's what I have been saying all along. What were they thinking? It IS fixable. But they better not wait too long.
