I heard there was a CD...

...a Journey/Perry boot with Sam Cooke covers on it, plus some other unreleased stuff. I saw it for sale on the net once but never found it again, don't even recall what they were calling it.

Does anyone know which one I'm talking about, and where it might be located? (Nobody on evilBay has anything close.)

Thanks :)

Usually when something like that gets on ebay, the BT'ers send in CJ to close the sale down. :D

I did, all 16 pages. There were some covers but not the boot I saw earlier this year.

I know who I can ask... thanks for the replies, if I find it I'll share! And if anyone else remembers what it was called, please post or PM. Makes it easier to track down in case my source isn't around.

It was broadcast as a Westwood One radio show in '78. Been on real silver boots a couple of times ...

Manarocks,

Over at BT, they don't like people to sell bootleg stuff of Journey. So CJ is the one who contacts ebay to get the stuff off. CJ says that the band doesn't get anything from a sale of bootlegs. They don't mind bootlegs, if you are trading them. But selling them is a no-no. :D

That was a neat clip, thanks!

I still can't find the boot I was talking about. I know it's out there, I even showed it to my other half when I found it online that one time, but I didn't bookmark it and never saw it again.

I don't recall it being a Westwood One show, but I could be wrong. I'll check that angle out.

Good song, just not what I expected... it's titled "I Believe" but "Don't Tell Me Why You're Leaving" is the song attached.
I like em both, it's all good! :D

I think the most common title for what you are looking for is "Super Jam II", or perhaps "In Tails". This was also Steve Smith's first recorded appearance with the band, and was recorded 11/78. Track list is:

1.Feeling That Way
2.Anytime
3.Road Runner
4.Love Hurts (with a little "Unchained Melody" in one verse)
5.Hold On I'm Coming
6.People Get Ready
7.Show Me
8.Crossroads
9.Born Under Bad Sign
10.Good Times
11.Lights
12.Wheel In The Sky

Most boots of this show also feature four songs from the PBS Soundstage '78 performance at the end of it. Also, tracks 1,2,11,12 show up on the supposed "Infinity Demos" CD. They aren't demos at all, just studio takes from the same sessions as the rest of these songs. I created, and subsequently traded a bit, a CD I called "Infinity and Beyond" with the same idea in mind (a few alternate studio versions with the rest of the album as live cuts) about 8 years ago when I was 16 and just barely getting into the whole Journey trading scene. I still kinda wonder about the fact this that set came several years after mine with the exact same idea, though I believe 2 of the live songs source concerts were changed..........ah well, just as long as the music is bring shared it works for me! :)

Rock on,
Eric

Yea it definitely is!! I love that thing to death! Perry's little "Unchained Melody" part of "Love Hurts" really makes me wish he recorded the whole thing!

Infinity and Beyond sounds very familiar, and I don't mean in reference to Toy Story! That *could* be it, though I could swear there were at least two Cooke covers on it. I think one may have been "Having a Party." I know "People Get Ready" was on it, so maybe it was a compilation of some sort like yours. Thanks for the info!

Back to digging, and yes if I ever find it I'll be glad to share!

Heh, cool to see you back around Monker, I remember you from the AOL board when I was just getting into Journey, and after that the newsgroupl. I somehow missed this whole Melodicrock message board until several days ago.....glad I found it now!
