styxman wrote:I've had a few Miller's (genuine draft) nats piss we'd call it over here but it's good enough to drink...anyway on comes the Houston Concert, you'll all have to take a look at the chemistry on stage, nobody is pissed off, they're enjoying it. Stop what your're doing and put it on!
Here's the history of me and journey, as a spotty kid (white teeth by the way Deano) I rushed 1 mile to get the vinyl 45 of Open Arms, we had no car at the time and the nearest shop was...you've guessed 1 mile away, it was pissing down at the time and I got totally soaked but I kept that Vinyl dry all the way home and played it over and over again all weekend...all my friends thought it was total crap..they followed The Stranglers, The Jam, etc. and one followed Tom Petty so he was cool and was forgiven....from Journey I progressed to Styx, Chicago, Toto, Reo, Boston, Starship - and finally Richard Marx rounded off all that great American music...great, great music...in fact I spent most of my teens defending American music from the barage of abuse from my UK friends...commercialism crap as they'd constantly state, poor little rich boys churning out pretty little songs...well hello friends, those poor little rich boys did good up until the late 90's then it all went wrong in my opinion.....they all jumped on the retro bandwagon, the old audience craving for what was but would never be again, how can anyone lucky enough to be in the Houston audience ever recreate what was then..there's no chance, it's one of those..shit I'd wish I was at that gig n' sort of things. Steve Pery is Journey full stop....it's as simple as that, the day he left is the day Journey died...new singers, new concerts, we've all enjoyed them but we all crave Perry to be there in his yellow T and denims strutting his stuff....we do it's a fact.
Trial by Fire...take a look at the back cover...Perry looking on and Schon is thinking 'Fuck off' and Cain is bemused...there is only one person that's responsible for the total fuck up of Journey and that is Schon...he's a total dick as he's doesn't understand how much of a mess he's making of the whole thing..........JSS is a great talent but he's not going to save Journey, what I've heard of this fella in his own right is great but Journey material..okay he's better than the average guy but he's not going to save Journey..he'll bring a new side to Journey but no way will he recreate that magic, it's not possible. I feel for the guy, he's been pushed into it by Schon..yes he has regardless of what you think, he's been put on the spot to keep the Schon bandwagon rollin...and the Schon bandwagon ain't rollin' fast is it?
Schon is a fantasic player, don't we just get such a kick from that guirtar intro...but as for band moral he's like Bush trying to sell oil to the Iranians.....shit impossible.....why doesn't he f*ck off to SS and forget about Journey...ever considered that then?
There's a way back for Perry but on his own terms, less Schon I think, so come on NS give it a try, go solo for a while and let Perry take control, he can do it you know, take a look at his solo projects backs in the 80's that pissed you off.....go for a walk on the wild side for a wild and stop f*cking up Journey
It's time, it's what we want and it's what's needed.
