If you are fan of JSS...

I would recommend getting some of his early work. Alex Masi has an album the Jeff worked on called Attack of the Neon Shark, great vocal performance on that one...ok it only has one tune with Vocals...but it rocks, the guitar lovers should appreciate Alex Masi's fine fret work too.

Same goes for Malmsteen's debut album...There's only 3 vocal tracks on that album. "Marching Out" has several more, though, and I especially love "Don't Let it End".

Talisman's Humanimal album is still my absolute favorite! Click here and scroll down a little...
http://lexilyn.be/jssmedia/page9/page9.html
As well as the Humanimal-project from 2002. Samples here...

Not to forget this Seal-cover on the "Live At The Sweden Rockfestival"...
http://lexilyn.be/mp3/talisman/liveatthesrf/Crazy.mp3
... pffft... so hard to choose, we JSS-fans are totally spoiled!

It seems that most Soto fans see this tour with Journey as a great opportunity for Jeff to showcase his talents. I wonder if we will see Journey influencing him or if he will influence Journey in any way.

Thanks for the info...I have to admit I haven't heard of JSS before this summer, but I do like what I hear (ok, and see  )

I definitely need to check out his earlier work, I'm sure I'm going to like it.

You wanna hear chops...get Yngwie's albums featuring Jeff...the amazing thing is that he can STILL hit those notes...20 something odd years later...

I still can't get over the fact that Soto's voice actually sounded older back then, at least to me anyway.

I have heard of Yngwie, I think my brother had some of his stuff...and it would probably be on vinyl. JSS sang on Yngwie's albums? Interesting, thanks!

Yes...He sang on the first Rising Force album and also "Marching Out". He also contributed vocals to Yngwie's version of "Carry on Wayward Son" on his "Inspiration" covers album.

hear ya.

The guy's a goddam shape changer regards to vocals. When you think you figured out what JSS sounds like he sounds like something else.
Genius....
If Journey was a pro ballclub right now, JSS would be their first round draft pick. HIGH first round like #1 overall.

Just ordered JSS's Essential Ballads, and Yngwie's "20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection: The Best of Yngwie Malmsteen"

I listened to some of JSS's music on his My Space site and was blown away.

Where have I been? :)

No, Gary Schutt the-video-editing-wizzard did it. All I did was putting the tune under it.
You know Gary? He used to be Jeff's bass-player, he also creates Jeff's DVD's and videoclips... very talented guy!

Nah, the ice cream settled them down a bit  Only now, I'm waiting for the sugar rush to kick in

You really have a fantastic bunch of video clips there, thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

Gary Schutt....is he the one responsible for that hysterical "Um" video? Aside from being a riot, he is pretty talented, I checked out his site and it also sounded great! He did the vocals as well on his solo albums? Good voice!

Thanks Big J, I remember seeing Taste of Heaven in my recent cyber travels, I'm going to have to check that out as well :)

I just picked up tix for the PNC on Sept 15, Journey/Def Lep are coming this way again...I'm excited about seeing JSS fronting the band

You've got GREAT seats, you're going to have a blast! The PNC is a really nice place to see a concert, we've been there a bunch of times....just caught Sammy Hagar there in June and it was amazing!
