I would have to listen to it again, but if so, then it wasn't the entire song.

You might have gotten the sound effects of Augeri's mic mixed up with what you believe to be taped in this instance. There are live effects to vocals ya know - echo, chorus, reverb...etc... but this was definitely 100% live.
Agree with you here on all counts. Perry was always live and they played faster in concerts.fred_journeyman wrote:Greggie wrote:I listened to it quite a few times, and cannot see how the vocals were "album vocals." I don't think Augeri was 100% live. Don't just listen to it...watch Augeri struggle with the highs (he bends forward in order to get more "ummph" for a note). In some places it sounds exactly like the album and in others, he went lower where he should have gone higher (compared to the studio release). In some areas of the song, it sounds too "sweet" to be live and in others, you can hear the rawness of his voice. When he "talks," you can hear the hoarseness in his voice.
Perry's live versions, for the most part sounded exceptionally good. I've only heard a few live cuts where Perry's voice did not "measure up," but it was still Perry. In most live situations that I've heard, the band played the songs faster in concert than on the studio release. Even so, you could definitely tell that he sang all of his songs live.
Oh...lest I forget...the above statements are purely my opinions.
