A complete let down. I enjoyed the INXS series, but this one blows!! Don't they hold auditions before filming begins? And... WHO is choosing the songs that the contestants will sing, geez!

Here's a fact - I know of 3 established singers that all could sing the phone book and make it sound killer - all tried out and were not called back for the finals. WTF were the clowns running this show looking for???

Here's my theory about that, Andrew....I believe that the music business - In the sense of the multinational corporate recording industry and all it's subsidiaries - Currently operate on the "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon" premise. A&R people, the heads of the recording industry, and the people that put together shows like RockStar - They don't have to do the trenchwork any more like they did even 10 years ago. The industry has become so marginalized, the talent pool so subjective and watered down, that these people need only look no more than 6 degrees (or probably less) than their own Blackberrys to find people that can fit the bill to feed to the public. The auditions, talent searches, and oddball overnight sensation stories are all a facade. People in this business need look no further than the sister of their accountant's cousin to find someone who has an agent and can look the part to get the job over on the buying public. So hold auditions across the country, have cattle calls in karaoke bars on every interstate roadhouse in America, but the so-called "cream" that rises to the top will get the job done, and for the most part, the apathetic consumer out there will fork over their attention for the 30 minutes or so that it takes to brand something the "next big thing."

Chris Daughtry (kick ass rocker from American Idol) also tried out for Rock Star INXS and was rejected.

The generation has jumped the tracks. They've moved over the generation that it would have taken to continue nurturing new artists, and America has also moved into this "you can do anything you set your mind to" mentality, which eliminates the hunger and drive and leads to the idea that everyone should have their careers handed to them on a platter.
As far as the bench - It's fuckin' hot out! Thought I'd cool everyone down with a nice shot of my backyard from this winter...

I am one of the few people who actually post in the RockStar forum. The show is like a train wreck. I watch it just to see how sucky most of those singers are.

I've pretty much stopped watching it. Just plain aweful. It looks like the band has never really defined what it is, especially musicly. With INXS, we knew what they were looking for and the back catalog of music they were potentially playing for. The big mistake was that they aren't playing any songs that the band members have played in their previous bands.
The singers pretty much are either choosing or being given songs that don't match what the band is saying it wants to be - "their type of rock".
On another note, "The One" from ABC has been cancelled. Yeeehawwww. This show was awful too.
But NBC launched their musicfest last night. So there is more to come

If she isn't sent hom then she is clearly blowing someone - or all three of them.
Absolutely horrid singer with zero stage presence.

"Blowing someone" OMG Andrew I feel like the whole mystique thing is kind of gone. I preferred you "elfkin".

Well, I guess she can suck the chrome off a trailer hitch, cuz she made it again. Hard to believe she wasn't in the bottom 3. Every week her performances get worse. Maybe she is the "comic relief" and they want to keep her around for that reason?

This is Dilana doing Time After Time last week. Not one of my favorite songs, but I love her voice, esp. the last 20 or 30 seconds.
