So, short of an official statement from the band, we all know that Journey are taking on new management and a new singer which is 99.9% certain to be JSS, but we know Steve ain't coming back. There seems to be a renewed vigour of interest in the band that simply didn't happen in 1998. Is this the start of Journey's rise to the (commercial) top again?

I would like to know where this renewed interest is showing itself? You can't say here. This is a Journey message board, so of course we are into it. The general public isn't "falling in love with Journey again." They have been getting some positive reviews, some negative. Maybe you are hearing things I am not?

Exactly, and you can't point to the tour since it was already booked and most of it on sale for months prior to JSS taking over. In fact, you can use that as evidence that Journey with Augeri was gaining ground. I doubt most people even know JSS has taken over...even JSS admits that most people think Perry is still in the band, and I would bet a numer of those who are left think Augeri is still in the band.

I guess we have to wait for Mr. Ballbag to respond, Monker.

I think Neal is going to try to put it together with JSS after this tour, go into the studio.

There's definitely more of a buzz with this current tour than there has been since 1998.

I just felt that at the 3 shows I've been to the band have been going down a storm. The crowds seem much more into JSS than Steve Augeri. With a world tour nearly booked up for 2007, I thought it seemed like much more of a buzz with the general public than there ever has been with Augeri.

The success of this tour doesn't have more to do with Def Leppard than it does Journey. Journey's just as popular, if not more so, than DL is in the U.S. right now.

You misunderstand... I was pointing out that this tour might be creating more buzz than usual because it's 2 popular classic rock bands instead of just Journey.

And Journey write quality spine tingling music, whilst Def Leppard write the most dreadful pop crap.

I don't see that there's more of a buzz except in Journey Chat Rooms. They're still being ignored by most press, video channels, radio, and the average Joe Blow. If they were a big deal, the whole "tapegate" thing would've been big news. It was big news here and on Journey's site. Nowhere else. Sure, there were a couple of tiny stories. Big deal.

Just because they have a new singer doesn't mean anything. If they have new management (not sure where that came from) then that might matter. Their present management seems crappy at best. They need Herbie back. He was the 6th Beatle.

I think if Perry came back, there'd be a chance for major press and interest. The reason I say this is because of all the drama associated with the entire thing and it's NEWSWORTHY. AND (and I'm an Augeri fan too) there's magic with Cain/Schon/Perry in the songwriting chemistry. Of course, having said that, there were more memorable songs on Arrival and Generations than on Trial By Fire (my opinion). Outside of When You Love a Women, Can't Tame the Lion, and one or two others, the rest of the album is faceless."Message of Love" is a complete ripoff of "Separate Ways", "Easy to Fall" is a ripoff of "Sweet and Simple", "Trial By Fire" is THE most boring song I've ever heard. They should've put "I Can See it In Your Eyes" and it would've been a better album, but that's another thread...
For my money, Arrival and Generations were better albums.

Also, when Perry came back the first time, there wasn't much press there either. WHY? No Herbie.

The fact that Journey toasted another singers voice and has replaced him with the guy from RockStar is not news to the general pubic. They could care less.

Three music stores in my area each have a promo poster for "Yeah" on the front window.

I've been seeing a renewed interest in young one's, recently on going back to their rock root's again, their using that 70's type style and sound. Everything has it's season, then eventually come's back around.

I have to agree. TBF is definitely a song for a certain mood, but it's great to listen to in that mood. It's relaxing.

The only thing I don't like is the Bible quotes in it. When I heard the passage next to the lyrics I thought, "What the...?"
