Perry Idea.

Ok, my senses tell me Perry is going to come out of retirement late this year, early next.
My idea, or thought was, possibly put out a duet with another singer, say Tina Turner, who has a big name, and has been away for a longtime. Perry always liked her, and I believe their voices would mesh beautifully.
A/C and pop 40 would instantly take on their new song. I am thinking moderate rate timing, and catchy chorus.
Tell me I shouldn't manage Journey. Fuck, at least I think about things outside the box, unlike Grampa who spends half his day in bed and the other half cleaning the shit stains off his underwear.

Well, if Jon Bon Jovi could sing with that Country chick, then anything's possible.
A singer that's been gone awhile.....hmmmm......
My choices:
Man this is hard!!! I'll be back to edit...sorry...
*EDIT* OK:
Caron Wheeler - lead singer of "Soul II Soul"
("Back to life...Back to reality...")

Stevie Nicks would work.
If B Adams can do a duet with Babs, then anyone could work. I thought the BA+Babs song was awful though.

It's been mentioned, but I think Anne Wilson or Stevie Nicks would be a great fit and be extremely promotable.
Maybe even Sheryl Crow or Celin Dion. Just depends on what Steve is going for with the CD.

What radio station would play that?
It would generate some media interest just because Perry's been gone for so long, but no radio station would play it. They'd have a news blip about it and then play 'Open Arms" again.
"Faith In The Heartland" was as good as anything Journey had done since Frontiers, but no one would play it, not because Perry wasn't there, but because classic rock and top 40 radio won't play new music by classic rock bands. James Taylor, Van Morrison, Toto, Tom Petty, the Stones, and Paul McCartney have all put out great albums in the last few years that got nowhere on the radio. If the Stones can make an album as good as A Bigger Bang and still not get shit for radio play, you know you're in trouble.
I think the 90's, for whatever reason, were a much different time for classic rock. Van Halen, Aerosmith and even the Stones got a lot of attention for their new releases, and then as the century changed, that seemed to just stop. People just want the same 5 songs by a band over and over again. It's just how it is.

Why does it have to be a female singer who has been away for a long time?
I believe if Perry will ever do a duet with a female,it should be someone to complement his voice to a T.
That's why I picked Ann Wilson.
Steve and Ann are in the same A league of soulful rock.

First off, Perry will have backing, unlike Journey. perry will have a MGT team that, um, manages. Getting played for Perry won't be a problem.
As for Toto, don't get me started on them. Boy, do I have some dirt on those fuckers.

I would like to hear how he would sound, alone, no duet.

WOW... great minds think alike, Ann/Nancy Wilson would be something I could invision, after Jonathan Cain wrote "Allies" for the girls back in the 80's this has been something i've pondered on for some time, Steve Perry with the Wilson girls, ...another lady that comes to mind would be Reba McEntyre, even though Reba is country the sound would be great...the voices would mesh beautiful.

The two of them sound a LOT alike!
A few years back there was a lot of talk about Perry and Melissa recording because he was spotted back stage at one of her shows....typical response whenever Perry is seen in public, but the idea had merit!

Makes sense, since they are both gay.

Oh come on,NIG...Adams is not gay.

Well, maybe he was for a short time, but only because Katarina Witt broke his heart.
He is fine now.

No duets. The only combo vocals I liked with Perry were Gregg/Steve on Infinity/Evolution.

Steve said that he loves Sarah McLachlan's voice, a duet with her and the song should be for a blockbuster movie soundtrack, to major impact

First of all Tina Turner wasn't ALWAYS a 'big name'. She drifted off the scene for years back in the 70's.
Secondly, I'd love to hear Perry do a duet with someone who can REALLY sing...just to show the contrast of how bad Perry's voice has REALLY become.
