wow! very perry~ish. i questioned alex about this song because i thought maybe it was deen singing. }:CP for those who think that jss can't hit it just listen to the vocal in this song.

i find it funny that some got upset when augeri came onboard because he sounded too much like sp. now people are getting their panties in a bunch because itho jss can't sing journey songs like they should be sung... meaning he can't hit the high notes like sp. that's pretty much a double edged sword. so my advice to jeff is... f~it... just do what you do & f what people say because you just can't please everybody. some people just like to complain & see the negative in everything so why even bother trying to please people who just like to bitch.

love ya!

I firmly believe that Journey should go in another direction. Augeri did continue the Journey after Steve left, and I am thankful for that, even tho I wasn't moved or captured by Augeri's voice. Now with JSS filling in for the rest of the tour, my interest in Journey has perked up again. I, for one, believe that if given the chance, JSS should continue with Journey. I like his spin on the "Dirty Dozen". JSS has his own style, and isn't trying to copy Steve Perry.

And another thing, since JSS joined up, there is interest in his music (especially for me !), apart from Journey. I believe that this was fate, or something like that, to expose alot more people to JSS music. He isn't that well-known here, so this is a great opportunity for JSS to get a bigger fanbase here, at home. :D

I think Augeri should be given another try IF his voice can handle it. Lower a key and go at it. Plus,. write songs like he did before Journey, he had some real magic going. Stop trying to write how he should feel Perry would right. He sounds enough like Perry to keep the Journey sound in what ever direction they go.
JSS has less of the Journey feel to his voice, so it would be harder to do, they would have to try harder to sound like Journey, so it would make it harder to stretch out-ERIC

Let me clue you in on a little secret, Eric. Augeri will never get another try in Journey.

This is all on him. I have altered my blame. Sure Neal and Friga are somewhat guilty, but this is mostly on Augeri. He will never see another stage again.

NOT getting upset because he doens't sound like Perry/Augeri. Upset because he can't hit the bloody notes that the songs demand. Geez.

That's what I've always thought. They can't please everyone.

He did that already with "Butterfly" and the song got excised from Journey's setlist in less than a week.
Here's the low down:
Jon and Neal are gonna keep writing Journey music, and if the vocalist can't keep up, he will be promptly thrown to the curb.

Does anyone really think FITH or TPIYH were tailor-made with Augeri in mind?
I don't.
In fact, I think Cain and Schon make believe Perry is still in the room with them as they compose.

Maybe, but this contradicts the previous opinion of most everyone here, that being that they were no longer motivated to write for Journey. Even Augeri's initial efforts for Gens was needed to kick Jon and Neal in the ass to get them writing. Of course Neal may feel some inspiration from his chemistry with JSS, but I'm not sure that will provide any motivation for Jon, other than to keep his name in the credits and make sure it doesn't stray too far into SS territory, should Jeff stay.

Not at all.
What I am saying is on the rare blue moon occassions that Neal & Jon did hunker down and write for Journey, they were writing for Perry's voice, not Augeri.
Augeri's high range is not his strong suit.
Should've done more low range stuff like Kiss Me Softly.

Well said, lady, I feel the same way. The only thing that concerns me is JSS's work pre-Journey...I don't want it to get burried. I don't see Journey performing any of those songs, so I just hope that JSS will have the time and energy to get back with the other bands, and play some shows here.

I find it amazing that he is so well known in Europe, and not as well known here. I'm thinking that is a change underway

great posts lady & msr! i feel that way too ladies. i'm hoping to see jss with talisman... & if i have to go to europe that would be fine with me! };C)) i have 2 more weeks of vacation left, can't think of a better way to spend it!

here's a thought that just popped into my head...

in a perfect world (if i was running the show) steve perry would come back to journey & talisman would be the opening act. they could even do some soul sirkus tunes. just saying.
