Actually, Mark Boals replaced JSS for the Marching Out tour (and even lip-sync'd JSS's vocal for the video of "I'll See The Light Tonight") and then something happened and JSS was brought back for more live action. However, for the Trilogy album Yngwie reeled Mark Boals back in. Joe Lynn Turner sings on Odyssey and does a fine job, but JSS is my favorite of the Yngwie vocalists.

Yes, Trilogy had not yet been recorded. Both Mark Boals and JSS sang on the Marching Out tour. A live EP was released off the JSS portion but to my knowledge has never been reissued on CD.

That is correct. Boals replaced JSS, then JSS came back. When I saw Yngwie open for Triumph in 86 it was JSS on vocals. Thanks to Jeff for setting me straight on that. LOL. That show was a really long time ago.

Check out JSS on Yngwie's Inspiration CD singing "Carry on MY Wayward Son" (Kansas), "Gates of Babylon" (Rainbow) & "Mistreated" (Deep Purple)

This is really the material he shines on!!!!!!

Also, JSS is on the "Tribute to Van Halen" CD singing "So This Is Love" That disc also has Joe Lynn Turner singing "Dance the Night Away" and David Glen Eisley on "Little Guitars"

KD Lang!!! Come on take it easy on Andrew, judging by his pic in the pics thread, he looks more like Corey Feldman than KD Lang!

Actually, Marching Out was just mixed weeks before this tour...the album's release was postponed as his 1st instrumental one kept selling strong. I left the band May '85 & MO came out August '85...Boals replaced me, did all the arena tours with AC/DC & Dio, they recorded Trilogy with him & then he was 'let go' 1 week into the tour & I came back to do the Trilogy tour....rather confusing, I have to pause for air sometimes trying to remember all of this.

I used to be a huge fan of the guy but he plays with so much emotion, even on the really fast stuff, that it's ridiculous. I've gotten tired of his music, though, so I don't really listen much anymore but I've always found the "lack of emotion" criticism to be lacking.

Well, the emotion critique is valid I think when you compare him to many other great guitarists. Even if there is any emotion in Yngwie's style at all its one sided I think, very fast, aggressive "I am a virtuoso" -like. No feeling no subtleness, something which his great role model Ritchie Blackmore is a master of.

I won't presume to tell you why you tired of his music but for myself, I tire of it precisely because his playing style is so one sided, altough his talent is massive, that's undeniable.

That makes a lot of sense.

Have you ever heard his "Concerto Suite for Electric Guitar" album? Great stuff and much more melodic than most of his work.
