Could SP really be coming back? AAAAAAAAAH

From something I read at BT:
"A friend of mine called me half frantic as she and her BF and another friend were having lunch at an Italian restaurant in Studio City off of Ventura Blvd. when who was dining on lunch right next to them but SP himself! He was with a sound engineer and as he was leaving she stopped him and told him how much she has loved his voice all her life and that she was at the WOF and hoped that he felt the love and knew how much people missed him. He said that he did, and she asked what he was working on, he said he was working on re-masters and he was looking through old photos of him with the band and it was making him sad. He said he is thinking of performing again and she took a couple of pics of him with her cell phone.
He left and a few minutes later the waitress came up and said that Steve had called the restaurant and had PAID for their lunch and wanted their emails to send them info of the new releases. My friend said that he was very friendly, funny and gracious and that he was LOOKING GOOD! I got the pic on my cell phone, and he does look good from what I can tell.
My friend is a huge SP fan, and she's not even a member of BT."

This means nothing. He's been saying that since before BTM.

IMO, it's more likely that you'll see Elvis do a comeback tour then Steve Perry.

Well, he will probably perform again - after all he's a singer. But... until that happens, its all just talk.

Perry ain't comin back. And neither is the other Steve.
They've made it clear they're all about Jeff these days.

Nice story. Who cares if he comes back or not.
Y'know, when Perry isn't wacked out on nose candy it seems like he's capable of being a genuinely pleasant human being.

Not to Journey, but it'd be nice to hear something new from the guy anyway. The clock is ticking!!

Coming back? To what? He isn't going back to Journey as much as some here would like it to happen...and they've been hoping/wishing/stating that for years!
I seriously doubt that he'll go back into the studio to record a new CD either. His supposed responses to your friend's queries is not much different than what he has said a million times before.
NEXT!

Fred thanks i just do not see him coming back at all.I think by redoing the cds this is his swan song.It will be all over the boards now they are going to be hoping he will be back. And i just don't see it at all.

There are some here that seem to THINK they know what Perry "will do" or "won't do", but unlike some others here, I'll always hold out HOPE that Perry will do a solo project, or do another project with some musicians some day soon. To ME, Perry will always remain the BEST!!!
As for him singing with Journey, HE made that clear in Fan Asylum that he would not sing with Journey again, and as a fan of his, I accept that fully!

I think he's been working on some stuff in the studio other than just the re-releases. I'd like to see him perform again or even just a new CD would be cool. I don't know that the person who started the thread was suggesting that he was coming back to Journey, just that he might do something solo (?) If he does perform again, at least we won't be guessing if it's live.

I should of been more clear. I didnt mean coming back to Journey. I just meant coming back to music.

What Andrew said. Period.
And Perry's drug use is well documented in at least one Herbie Herbert interview.

Pfff, ya like I'm going to take the bitter rantings of somebody like Herbie's (Neal's daddy figure) as gospel.......pleeeeeeeease. Of course there was friction, Steve wasn't a yes-man IMO. Herbie probably couldn't stand him cuz he couldn't control him.

Thank you , I would not believe a thing that old goat had to say. He was great at one time i will say that for him.But he is so full of hate now and he is very bitter and will be more as the years pass bye.I am not saying Steve was an Angle but he is human like the rest of us.

And what does that link have to do with the TOPIC of this thread???
And by the way Andrew is only giving his "own opinion". Nothing wrong with him giving his own opinion of course, but Andrew does not have any factual information, as to what Perry is doing, or going to do (regarding singing again), or whatever. It is all just opinions, as it is with ME & EVERYONE ELSE HERE.
The only one that knows is Steve Perry!

I agree 100% Lori. And all I know is alot of people tried drugs back in the 70s particularly in the music biz (even Bill Clinton tried them). Doesnt mean they were addicts or continue to do them today e.g. Aerosmith.
Perry may not have decided himself whether he wants to do another album or tour yet. He might be thinking about it. But also thinking about what it means he would have to give up. He has a nice quiet life now. What a doll to buy lunch & pose for pictures tho.

I don't know if Perry & the rest of guys in Journey used drugs back then or not, I wouldn't know that, I wasn't with them, lol, but that is not really my point, it just seems that some like to focus on negatives only, and I just think that was cool thing for Perry to do to pose for a picture with them & buy them lunch.

I was agreeing with Andrew. As for the relevace of the link, it was in response to the post that the statement made by TNC was not a fact.

I remember reading a portion of an interview with Neal where he mentioned something about "dropping a mushroom" and that's when he came up with the riff to "Stone in Love".
