Question for posters here that actually MET...

Postby TRAGChick » Thu Aug 17, 2006 1:37 am

Were you afraid that once you met, the whole "anonymous banter / getting along / whatever" would disappear?

...I mean, I met 2 ladies a few years ago, and I was a nervous wreck...thinking that "yeah we get along on the board, but FACE TO FACE?!"

Thank God I was wrong! Still in contact today.

Sorry if I didn't "phrase" it correctly.....but do you "get" what I'm asking?

I can't speak too much about here, because the only regular posters on MR I've met are Lula and Michelle (MNMSJRNY), but I have met a great many of the posters on BT. And despite being 4,000 miles away, some of them have become very good friends both on and off the forums.

I'd like to meet a few people here, just to see if the 'anonymous banter' as you call it - I'd perhaps call it something a little more colourful - is carried into real life. My experience is that people are a lot braver, and a LOT more argumentative when they can do it anonymously and don't have to look the recipient of their anger in the eye. The result is that face to face meetings tend to be much more friendly and sociable. Of course there are those who will be every bit as antagonistic in real life (usually because they haven't got a life so they don't have any social skills), but I've rarely come across anyone like that from these boards among the people I've met so far - well, maybe one guy up in Edinburgh but we won't go there...

I think I've only met Stu (RossValoryRocks) from here and we had a great time. We don't keep in close contact, though, but he is a great guy.

I've met a few people from Styxworld.....nervous at first but they were a great bunch, only reason I left was the $30 dollars
It would be great to meet up with people on here also but I guess for now it would only be the British contingent as I ain't flying for a while

Let's see on the Styx Forum (you know the one about the Journey Forum - LOL) I met quite a few people, some also post on here. I ended up being great friends with most if not all of them. When I met each of them it was like we've been life long friends, just clicked in person right away. Great, great, great people!!!

I met: Sadie, Bugsy, Evil Eyes, Froy (LOL), Ash, Jimmy, StyxfanNH, Yogi, ClassicStyxFan, DeeJayStyx, Kansas666 and about 15+ more from the other Styx, Dennis & Glen Message Boards.

From strictly THIS board, well I met Dean in person. We had a fun Journey weekend, I have a lot of pictures.............

I look at porn, and my wife is cool about it. Not that she has any say in the matter.

Like seeing the Miller Lite in that 2nd pic Deano!
