I am listening to Bryan Adams live, and his guitarist, Keith Scott, is playing a slide guitar for "Back to You."

Neal, I know you are reading this. Did you ever play a slide guitar?

Secondly, I love K Scott...reminds me of Neal alot......

I wonder if NS and KS are buddies?

I've always enjoyed Keith Scott as well. Kinda in the same style as Richie Sambora, only better.

Well, I don't always agree with you but there's room for everyone under the big tent that is Journey. Feel the love, man.

Slide guitar using a slide, yes (http://www.michaelmesser.co.uk/Slides%20review.htm).
Played in the "traditional" method (neck facing up), no.
Very popular in Country/Western and Blues.
May have started with the use of a glass bottle.

Most guitarists who tend to be considered the better slide players play a lot of slide. It isn't as easy as it looks. As far as good slide players go, it doesn't get much better than Ry Cooder. He's the guy that plays a lot of that great stuff on the movie "Crossroads" (the one with Ralph Macchio, not the one with Britney Spears...).

Keith Scott RULES.

Check out his extended slow solo on a live version of Native Son - from an Adams live radio show (Westwood One 1987)...not to mention the rest of the amazing show!

With a slide, Tommy Shaw's pretty badass as is Joe Perry and David Gilmore. :-)

HUGO IS THE ANSWER

If they want a great substitue until Augeri gets better, why don't they give HUGO a tryout.
As great a singer as Soto is, he is not right for this band.
At least give the fans the sound they want until Steve can come back. It will make for a great show.
HUGO is definitely the guy for this, he is doing a Journey tribute band now. Check out his website at journeyshow.com
It would be a story just like the movie Rockstar, guy gets to live out a dream.
(Soto could appreciate a story like that)

NS dusts off a slide thimble on L,T,S. Studio and the L,T,S vid evidenced on the GH DVD and the Houston '81 dvd. Never seems to do it anymore.
Not sure I miss it, either. Never been a huge fan of slide EXCEPT Neil Giraldo on In The Heat Of The Night. Greatest slide ever played.

Yes, big Neal Giraldo fan myself.
I'm amazed Deano didn't know this rather elementary fact about Neal's work with Journey...

Some great slide work can be found in the old Allman Brothers band. Duane was a stood slide player as well as Diki Betts later on.
