Deen is sick for one night, and JSS himself comes on the forum over there and lets everyone know he is o.k. - within 24 hours, I think (my timing may be off).

Yet, for months no word at all on Augeri.

does this make sense?

Deen is back to his normal self (if you wanna call that normal, ha ha j/k) & yes, he was a SUPER trooper for coming onstage to be with his brothers while he was down. We were so worried for him & it was quite scary how badly affected he was with this altitude sickness...we all got a touch of the climate change onstage, at times I would even be singing normally & all of sudden the throat would clam up, so strange to not be able to control it.
He bounced back & put every last drop of energy into it, he collapsed into my arms on the side of the stage, me & his dad helped him into the dressing room afterwards...scary stuff but just goes to show the heart of this guy, didn't want to let us or the fans down.

Tonight, although we were still in a high altitude, we all handled it much better & the show went without a hitch. A special nod to Jim, Deen's tech, who hit every nuance of every beat right there with us...it was an inspirational night in Denver, thanks for caring about the birthday boy!

This is where i can see alot of frustration on this board comes from---Steve A. is sick for what a month or more and when people ask about him they are put off ,threads get closed but DEEN gets sick and in less than 24 hours a member of the band comes and trys his best to make fans know that there drummer is okay. (BOTH STEVE A and DEEN are a part of this band according to this site but one has to be hush hush and the other is out in the open, can it be any more inconsistent) this is exactly why there is so much speculating going on. I hate to say it but this is not the fans fault

Is Cherokee a new band member? is this an attempt to deflect the obvious? my statement was pretty straight foward. Several (more than several fans)have asked why no update on Steve A has been made only to hear deflecting attempts such as the one you put forth above obviously many of these fans are frustrated when no update about Steve is made but here updates are made about Deen being sick. Logic would dictate that if your going to give updates about one band member you probably should do the same for others ,in not doing so there is a lot open for interpretation/speculation which wouldnt at all be the fans fault for asking.Wouldn't you agree that consistency is important here at the site I'm sure that all the moderators want to be on the same page and say the same thing when they are asked questions on the boards otherwise people question and speculate. Why are you using apples and oranges were you trying to say its the same/similar because they are both fruit?

I just wanted to make clear that this is not a post about bashing anyone.

I think its GREAT that Soto posts on the board, and even BETTER that he gave an update! Excellence by Soto!

What I am wanting to question is WHY no other word on AUGERI for months?

The official statement that mods keep referring to is crap - period. Surely, as is evidenced by a few posters on BT, people are starting to see through the crap.

Well, since I've "outed" myself.....
I've been reading this board/site for years. And have recently ( read: since spring) been over to the Journey site. I'm a DL fan really, and have renewed my interest in Journey due to the tour. I had been a big fan of theirs "back in the day", having seen them several times on tour in the '80s ( SP era).
Yes, I've read all the "tape-gate" stuff.
Yes- I saw THAT blog.
Yes- I have an opinion, but as I am not a professional musician, it's worth is only in *my* mind.
Yes- I like JSS! I saw him in West Palm Beach this tour and thought he did a great job!
Yes- I own Generations and Arrival, so I know of SA's vocals. Just didn't have the time/monies to see them when they came my way.

Now having said all that, I too can not for the life of me understand why SOMETHING has not been said about SA's condition. I don't mean a full medical diagnostic! But a simple- "He's recovering and thank you for all your support- yada, yada, yada" type message.
With all the speculation here, on BT, and even the DL forums, it would seem to me to be the one way to end all the confusion/anxiety/crap! that has been floating around for the last month or so. Even IF SA is not to return, and they don't wish to make that public until the tour is over- it would save them a whole lot of trouble all around.

I've felt that way since this all started. My gut feeling is that SA is gone and the reason that they aren't making a statement now is that they are afraid that it will hurt ticket sales for the current tour.

JSS is obviously a grown-up MAN & can take the heat in ANY kitchen & ride it out-even ride w/it. He posts here, there & is honest & funny as hell. Theres been some stuff said here about him that was very nice, some not so nice, & some definitely not nice (& I totally made a sex object out of him admittedly-but he didnt get mad at that either-he busted my ass in a cute funny way). Over "there" some not so nice stuff as well as lots of nice stuff. The difference is: He's not hiding from ANY of it. If he had been w/the band when the Augeri catastrophe went down (which obviously he couldnt have been) he would have been upfront about it. I get the distinct impression he calls it like he sees it. Yes JourneyGal, JSS has NOTHIN' to hide & he IS telling us. Augeri on the other hand cant even say TY for the prayers. Never mind an update. Just TY. Yulog said it best: SMOKE & MIRRORS. Im fed up talking about Augeri. He's yesterday's news. The future of Journey is JSS & it's about time everyone realized that.

And one more point: how awesome to have a singer of our favorite band actually reading what we say & responding. Damn. How often does that happen with ANY band? That's a guy who CARES about his fans. He may not agree w/everything we have to say. I bet he laughs at a lot of it. But at least he takes the time to read it. I'd rather have that than be ignored. My hat is off to JSS for this.

IMO the band just doesn't care enough to make a statement. They're having too much fun with Soto to stop and think about what went down with Augeri. Perhaps they assume that if they ignore him, the 'problem' will just fade away. Yet another retarded decision on Journey's part, if this is true.

I still think that Augeri and his family have been told not to say anything on BT or anywhere else for that matter. Andrew says this isn't so, but since when is Andrew a BT admin? I have my suspicions.

Some don't get it, but as far as the band/Augeri is concerened they HAVE addressed it. They don't have to address it within the context of a blog or tapegate.

At the moment, sure. But in the long run I can't see him contacting the Journey fans (at least through BT) again. Hope I'm wrong.

As I said before- I don't think that anyone is "entitled" to a full medical update/diagnostic.

But with all the getwellsoon/prayer/goodthoughts type threads to the man, both on BT and other sites, one would think a
simple "Thanks for your support" post would be nice. After all, it's his voice that's the problem- not his eyes or his fingers.

Isn't he going to need those people if he does anything on his own or w/Tall Stories in the future tho? I somehow think the Tall Stories fanbase (prior to his time in Journey) was probably pretty small.

But I tho't he was such a classy guy & all that? So nice to his fans, the press, etc. Everyone said that about him rite? If so, this not even saying TY isnt exactly in keeping w/the way he presented himself the last 8 yrs. Was that all an act? Or is he just ashamed as all hell? To me, reading all the love on BT, no TY by now is downright disrespectful. I read on some BT threads some people sent cards, gift baskets, etc. They spent their hard earned money on him. The girl at work did too. I asked if she got a private TY & she said no she didnt expect one because he needs his family time (she's a blind admirer).

Maybe Steve A. had to have surgery? he might be in Austria recovering.....???????? could be he's focused totally on healing and not what is being said on these forums, especially if he's out of the country.

Since when's he ever popped in there to say "thanks for the prayers"? His not doing so now is not an indication of him quaking and cowering in shame on the run from torch-wielding tapegaters.

It's unbelievably rude he can't pop in to say TY for the prayers, gifts, etc. Yes, he must be wild on the run.

I believe Augeri needs time for himself.He needs to recover both vocally and mentally.
Personally,I believe he wants to stay away from all the fuss and the band issues and leave Journey behind for a while,at least until the touring will be done this year.
As for a statement,I do believe that Augeri thinks the band's statement was enough for the time being.I don't blame him for wanting to go under the radar until he decides what to do with his professional life.

IMO,he is not avoiding the fans on purpose.He is isolating himself for stress reasons.He's been through a lot,plus he IS a singer.That equals with " being different".

Give the man a break.

Maybe the guy is suffering from depression.
If so, he will feel like he is at the bottom af a deep, dark well. And, if so, he probably CAN'T respond yet.
