Gen-X vs Boomers; Rock vs Country

How is it that 2 different groups - that represent Music - can have a totally different approach to musicians, and their livelihood(s)?
Pop/Rock seems to state:
"If you're 25.5 years old or older, you're a DINOSAUR!!" 
Whereas, in Country, you've got people like Willie Nelson and George Jones still going strong.
Is it possibly because Country was around a bit longer than Rock'n'Roll....and therefore they have the mindset of
"Respect Your Elders"...?
IMO, that's the opinion that
ROCK should have...

I started listening to country about a year ago (used to hate it) because I got tired of the crap that was on top 40. The reason I started liking country is because it is more like mainstream pop than it used to be.
I believe that country will go the way of rock - regarding young artists - within the next 10 years. The country stars are getting younger, and the fans are as well. Country is more and more about image these days, which is why you have the problems with the "seasoned veterans" losing fans.
You don't see Garth Brooks, Vince Gill, Alan Jackson, or Clint Black much anymore. Younger acts like Sugarland, Rascal Flatts, Toby Keith, and even younger like Miranda Lambert are what sells now.
I love Sugarland and Little Big Town. I am not saying anything negative against these talented artists. However, I see a trend happening as it did in Rock during the 90's.
Even in the 80's, aging artists like Springsteen and the Stones still carried weight and respect. Not so much with older artists these days.
Just my opinion on the matter, of course.

Shania Twain fires band members that go over a given weight range. They're just as image
conscious as any other mainstream genre. Pass.

Yup. There might even be a minimum tattoo requirement, but don't quote me on that.
