On Guitars 101, a fab gem for you all!!

This is Journey live on the King Biscuit Flower Hour radio show in October 1978 at the CBS studios in San Francisco, California. The sound is terrific, A to A+. You'll hear a little bit of commentary from the band, mainly Steve Perry. Several of these songs were not Journey's own songs, but they definitely make them their own for this show. There are a couple of guest performers here, too. The last 4 tracks are from a show in June or July of 1978 performed on WBBM-TV in Chicago, Illinois.

Setlist:
1. Feeling That Way
2. Anytime
3. Road Runner
4. Love Hurts
5. Hold On I'm Coming
6. People Get Ready
7. Show Me
8. Crossroads
9. Born Under A Bad Sign
10. Good Times
11. Lights
12. Wheel In The Sky
13. Winds Of March
14. Blues Jam
15. On A Saturday Night
16. She Makes Me Feel Alright

grab a bunch of it right now!!!

These are really excellent - they also include vocals from Joe Lynn turner (he and Perry duet on "love Hurts" and then Perry tries to take it in "Unchained Medley")

The guitar player from the Doobie Bros participate (sorry I forget his name)

and another track include the Tower of Power horn section - a personal favorite.

Cat 8)

That is a girl on "Love Hurts" CatEyes. It might be Annie Sampson of Stoneground. :D

:D I am listening to mine right now, and the announcer said that Annie Sampson and Jo Baker Of Stoneground brought in "Love Hurts" to the show. And Steve stuck in "Unchained Melody" in it.

Kathy,

There will be a link at the end of the setlist. Click on that and it will take you to the downloading site. Once at the downloading site, there will be a box with a set of letters beside it. Type exactly how the letters appear in that box and hit enter. Then the box will say that you will be able to download in so many seconds. Once it says ready to download, click on that and then another box will come up, asking you to save it. Once you get the files in, let me know if you need any more help. :D

Best, hands down, unbeatable intro to Wheel In The Sky I have EVER heard !!!!!

Talk about Clear As A Bell vocals :!: This rivals that "Patiently" ending.

Maybe I really AM gay for Perry

This is a top notch recording!!

I must say after listening, I much prefer Perry's voice, a little later on, when it acquires a little "smoke" around the edges.

Sometimes a slightly "blown" voice has those extra textures that just...sound right.

Love it, when after a tough and extended gig, my voice is slightly "cracked"..its always a good time to put on those Journey songs, sing along, and sound a bit like Perry... haha

I agree, I prefer the more raw earthy vocals, but I sure wouldn't mind hearing a full version of Perry singing Love Hurts. Loved that song by Nazereth when I was a teen.

Thanks McNeil and CRL for the link. :D
