RE: Steve Perry videos vs. Journey videos

Why was Steve given a "miniseries"-type video series, complete with plot lines and a "to-be-continued" thing ("Strung Out" to "Oh Sherrie")....

...and ONLY A YEAR BEFORE, Journey is running around on a WHARF(?!), trying not to trip over 2 X 4's.

Were the solo videos financed out of Steve's pocket - so he had "creative control"...?

My $$s on "Yes"....

Every video from Journey and solo steve was awful

Steve probably didn't have to finance his vids but I bet he had complete creative control

Of course next year in the Steve Perry BTM he'll say he never felt like he was a part of the video team.

Perry was pretty hot shit back then, I can't imagine he had to finance anything out of his pocket. But he probably had control. That's how Sherry was in them.

I canNOT imagine that Perry would put up his own money for those videos! The label put up the money, but I'm CERTAIN he had creative control. He undoubtedly demanded it and got it. Who can blame him? However, most of the videos in those days were shot by Russell Mulcahy and look terrible. I especially like it when some song was put to a video premise that had absolutely NOTHING to do with the song and I'm not necessarily talking about Journey/Perry videos here. They're laughable when I watch them now.

Fred....it was meant to be a tongue-in-cheek question....that's why "agonizing" is in quotes, and the "" is at the end....
