Does Anyone Else Remember This?

You know, first let me say how great it is that we will be receiving more tunes from Perry. I think it's cool that while we all get something new, he didn't have to go into the studio to record anything new.

However, I distinctly remember on Fan Asylum, during one of his Q & A sessions, he was asked whether he had ANY unreleased music from the Alien Project. He answered succinctly, "No, that's it." Now, all of a sudden...VOILA!...there's more. There's at least TWO more! Again, that is phenomenal, but I guess either Perry's memory was fading then, or he was simply lying about it. I smell Alien Project-gate...

Oh, I know, I know. Perry ONLIES will say whatever they need to say to ensure that Perry continues to be seen in that god-like light that they have tried to keep untarnished for years. Truth of the matter is that you can't trust ANYONE connected with Journey. Apparently, they all lie.

What's also weird is that the liner notes for Perry's Greatest Hit, 2 Other Hits, A Bunch Of Album Tracks +5 said that If You Need Me, Call Me was an Alien Project demo and THE demo that Jrny heard that got him in the band yet it never sounded that old, and now 'Drew's report confirmed it was an Against The Wall track...

No way, his voice sounded completely different between IYNM and ATW (the song)...

As "they" say, I don't care what someone is like as a person, as long as they out out good entertaining music. Besides lying about having more music (if that's what was done- giving benefit of the doubt) isn't as bad as lying about singing live in concert.

Whocares- thank you for saving me some typing. If I read anymore posts like this topic starter I will need to couch @ $250.00 per hr to talk through why I can find no logic in that post. A perry agenda,oh yes.

What was actually said ....

Q: Have you ever considered remastering/ releasing the Alien Project demo? Hearing your pre-Journey work would be such a welcome treat!!
SP: Might be a good idea. Thanks.

Fan Asylum, Feb 2005

Not at all, Matty. Just asking a question. Didn't mean to offend you...but hey, if it did, too bad.

No, that's not the question I was referring to. The one I was referring to had to do with if there were ANYMORE unreleased DEMOS? Perry's answer was an unrefutable "No, that's it."

You're right...you should probably stick with threads like "The Booze thread." Much more up your alley.

For all the complaining some of you do about "threads like these," you sure find a way to keep them at the top of the board, don't you? Kids today...

You know, it's interesting, but to me, he didn't sound all that different either. I have one boot of Perry when he sounded higher than Michael Jackson when Michael was just starting out. THAT was great and the difference between that and the Alien Project is truly noticable.

OK, Fan Asylum 2000 then:

Fan Asylum: Another rumor is that you have been writing and have something just about ready for release.
SP: (laughs) No, I don’t. It’s so funny how these rumors get going. The last thing I did was the Greatest Hits + 5 CD. There might be a couple of tracks that didn’t make that compilation, but they are the only songs that are ‘in the can,’ so to speak.

Are you talking about that "Bring It On Home" (I think) song? There are 2 Perry "demos" out there that have the pitch and tempo changed horribly... he sounds like a chipmunk, and I'm sure that's what you're hearing. I used to have the 'correct' versions but lost all my rare tracks in a computer crash. Otherwise I would post it.

YES, that's it! When I received that, the first thing I asked the person who sent it was if that was REALLY Steve Perry? I was told yes, that was him. I'd love to hear the correct version. Sorry you don't have it. Don't you know you're suppose to save ALL of that stuff to CD?! Whatsamatter u?

Yeah, I can't wait to pick up the reissues with the bonus tracks.

I have four Alien Demo tracks. I don't know what their proper song title is for each song. I believe that people will listen to the songs, and try to pick out what they think the title is. On another board, I saw someone post the old title and then the new title for three of the songs, based on what was said about the bonus tracks for Street Talk..

If anyone wants me to, I will upload those three tracks with the the two titles.............

Alien Project Demos Original MASTER REELS. quality! 5 songs! The songs are not titled exactly what everyone knows them as.

(excerpted from another site)

I have the AP demo too, with 4 1/2 songs on it (the first one started about halfway through). Quality is shibby but If You Need Me from his solo album is true to the original, down to the inflections. Can't wait to hear the rest of them!

This was rerecorded and released on one of the FTLOSM CD5's...It's a completely different 'modern' version. That is probably what Andrew was referring to and what was supposed to be on Against the Wall...and it SHOULD have been on TBF, because it's a great song...something FTLOSM was lacking.

That's just one of the things I like about you, Matty! :) Do you mind if I call you "Matty"? Bugs some people when I do that to their names, so I thought I'd ask...
