Is that really JSS singing? How come his voice has gone up about an octave since the 3 boots doing the rounds? If you close your eyes it could be SP.

I think that is because Jeff is finally starting to hit his stride; a few weeks warm-up, 2 week break and then BAM! He has hit his stride. Too many folks concerned w/ his look, ie "Metal Guy w/ a Wife-Beater" WTF!?!?!?
They have no idea of his range and how he can rock AND lay on syrupy ballads just the same.
I too dug Jeff's work w/ YingYang back in the 80's; Those first 2 tapes were the soundtrack to my morning paper-route for 2 years staright

didn't he say he was not feeling well during the atlanta show? sometimes it's hard to really tell how good (or bad) someone is from a boot. other voices get mixed in & it's hard to tell who is who.
he does sound good though doesn't he! it's going to make it really hard to let him go if/when augeri comes back. stay jeff. }:C)

Oh come on please. Click the link below. Close your eyes. That is what Steve Perry sounds like singing this song. Jeff does NOT sound like Steve Perry. Here we go again.

Yes..it was certainly reasonable
Just a tad flat here n there.. but acceptable
ok..Im being particularly critical! Not for a minute does he sound Perry like though !!! His voice has a totally different timbre to it.... certainly deeper than Perrys or Augeri's Listening to JSS.. makes me realise just how similar Augeris voice was to Perry, was to Chalfant was to Tony Mills etc etc. JSS vocal style is defo not in that camp!
JSS just sounds like... JSS !!

You guys are missing something. ALL the high notes here are passed to Deen. They're trading off basically. Which I'm fine with, but people are saying "he's 3 octaves higher" and "sounding like Perry" - look at the first high note "in the NIGHT" - he's not singing.
Unless the video is off track with the audio, which it isn't.
I'm glad they're doing this, don't get me wrong. I'd rather hear Deen step in than JSS try and maybe get there, maybe not. It's a tough catalog to sing. But before we get our panties all wet about things we need to pay attention to how they're doing it. At least on this night.

With Perry, that "Neal" became part of the song for me. Augeri never did that, but I'm glad Jeff is because it's cool.

the video's from youtube are ALWAYS off track form the audio, wherever I am and on whichever computer I'm using, whether it be my home computer, my slow laptop inthe states, or my bro's very fast computer here in the tropics. Hard to tell if tehre's any passin, unless you see it happen in person. Even then, it's still a fine fine version sung by JSS.

Sounds great. Keep up the good work Jeff! Many of us are excited by what you bring to Journey. You're gonna have to get the other guys to wear lifts though since you look like you're about a foot taller than anyone else on stage.

I wish I could hear more of this. Too many voices around the person recording to know for sure how it sounds. I hope a boot shows up soon.
But please no more comparisons to Perry. Let's just agree that JSS sounds like JSS.

Hey Jeff,
If you're still on the site here, hows about you and the guys giving us a couple extra tunes at Shoreline this Saturday, seeing as the bay area has alway been considered Journey's "Hometown". I am sure it will be great. Thanks for steppin in bro'.

This is certainly a point when people need to stop comparing to Perry. JSS is indeed his own voice, not trying to sound too much like someone else. I even kinda like the fact that he's not afraid to go against the trends of wearing tight pants. And certainly not leather ones at that. Didn't that trend go out with the Scorpions?
Right on Jeff for standing up for yourself in this God forsakin' place, that well all (mostly) love, and shit. If ya ever make it back to STl, when I'm in town, I have a nice bottle of Don Julio Blanco Tequila to share a few shots with you, bud.

Good to know man. For the record, I've never seen the "off track" problem on YouTube, that's why I pointed it out.
No disrespect meant Jeff...I know you're singing your ass off. Coming to see you in Fresno. Thought I wasn't gonna be able to but things worked out.
Throw Edge of the Blade in that night...pretty please.
