I got an opportunity just now to see Foreigner & Styx. Great seats 4th row & cheap. I've seen Styx a few times already but I've never seen Foreigner. I always wanted to see them w/Lou but oh well. Are they worth seeing w/Kelly? Any opinions?

I've only seen Foreigner twice and, both times, it seemed like there was something missing from their live sound. I don't know what it was. The performances weren't bad, but far from the best of the shows I've seen from other bands. The sound was very thin, in my opinion. I've also got the "Live at Deer Creek" DVD and the sound is a little better but basically the same.
That being said, I would be interested in seeing them with Kelly Hansen. From the clips I've heard, it sounds like he's close enough to Lou Gramm to pull off those songs.

Hell Yes! When I saw Foreigner all I knew was that Lou wasn't in the band anymore, I wasn't sure what to expect at all. I was blown away by his voice he sounds so much like Lou. It was a great night because I got to see Styx afterwards. One of the best parts is when they played Starrider, I really didn't expect to hear that song. Well worth the money even if the seats were not cheap.

GO GO GO!!!
Excellent show! Kelly is amazing, and this coming from a huge Lou Gramm fan. I saw them a couple of months ago with Styx. Great show, low ticket price ($41.50) and I also had great seats. You need to check Kelly out. Definitely worth it!!!

This reminds me of the talk about Journey live in 1998. Kind of ironic.
Saw Kelly Hansen years ago singing for "Hurricane" Good vocalist, and he sounds very good in Foreigner (or the Mick Jones solo band if you will, LOL)

Not to the best of my knowledge. I don't think any singer would have "wiggled" that night. Hurricane was opening for Saxon.

I'm a huge Lou Gramm fan, and the only time that I heard Kelly was on Today (I believe) a few months back, and he sounded very good. I haven't heard the live CD they did recently, but it's supposed to be great.

Ya never know...when I saw Saxon live in 1986 (they were opening for Yngwie [with JSS, BTW]), Biff Byford very dramatically pretended to fellate the lead guitarist's axe, stroking the neck and flicking his tongue all over the end of the headstock. Seemed fairly "wiggly" to me at the time, lol.

BTW, I saw "Foreigner" (aka the Mick Jones Band) with Kelly Hansen a couple of years back, when he was new to the band, at our local county fair.
To say they sucked would have been kind. My primary thought was, "what was Jason Bonham thinking, signing on to this mess?"
Apparently things have improved, but I'll pass on any future shows.

It was a joke AR. U compared this time w/Kelly to the beginning when SA was w/Journey. So I made a joke...or so I tho't.
