what the hell is the point, Deano. Let this one go.
There's much to crow about without kicking someone while they are down.
I agree, Perry was the best - he will never be equaled. Period.
I never got the Augeri appeal for the most part (though I loved “The Time”), but a lot of people did. (You even loved him at one point.)
He didn’t lip the whole time, though that he did at all pisses me off, too. (and there’s a big difference between enhancing a show with backing vocals, etc, and lip-syncing.) You could debate all day who's the most at fault. I personally think Neal was the pusher on this, though Augeri didn’t have to do it, even if it meant breaking a contract if nec.
But you know, the best part is right now. I’m actually excited about Journey again. Didn’t think it was possible without Perry.
So lets give Augeri a small break, and focus on getting the word out about THIS Journey.
Perhaps you can look at Augeri as the unfortunate fall guy who took all the heat for “filling in” for Perry. As good as he is, JSS would have gotten the same grief.
And if it weren’t for the whole lip-syncing thing, we wouldn’t have THIS version of Journey, which I think is a GREAT THING!
So Augeri saved JSS from the Perryloons hate, and then made it possible for JSS to step in and “save the day.”
So yes, “Thank you, Steve Augeri!”
