Journey is like Wayne Gretzky..a sure fire Hall of famer.....WITHOUT Augeri,...

Journey deserves to be in! But NOT Augeri! Hell No!

I think Augeri's faking it has ruined their chances of that for at least a couple of years.

Maybe, if they start making some noise with JSS.

Seems like only a Steve Perry comeback or some real noise with JSS will get them in. The Augeri years have been a "step backwards" so to speak.

Rollie, Schon, Cain, Ross, Smith & Perry the two incarnations WORTH being in the RRHOF.

Everything else hopefully will fade away. :? To be nice they could mention the rest as hired help, no? :D

Journey didn't get a star without SP.....they got one because of him...not SA...........the star's on the HWOF are bought by someone (15 grand, I think it is).....and petitioned for. In Journey's case, it was petitioned for and bought by the fan's!!!.....

Steve Augeri and Deen Castronovo have 8 years with this band and they deserve and have earned the right to participate in a RRHOF ceremony, just as every other former member does. It has yet to be determined (at least officially) what role Mr. Soto will play in the future with Journey, so we'll just have to wait and see. I hardly think however that the big labels will suddenly be banging on Journey's back door with all kinds of cash, but this tour with Def Leppard has certainly raised some eyebrows with industry mongels, I'm sure. It'll be interesting to see what happens, nonetheless.

I have to respectfully disagree. It wouldn't mater if Steve and Deen had been in the band for 20 years, they are touring on of material they had NOTHING TO DO WITH.

1 or 2 songs each concert from Augeri/Castronovo material, zero hits, pathetic album sales, zero name recognition does not equate them with the likes of Dunbar, Smith, Rolie, Cain, Valory, Schon, and Perry. The hits, the PUBLIC RECOGNITION was from Infinity to ROR.

I hope for great stuff from Soto. I really like Deen - never had a single problem with him.

But to think that those two had ANYTHING to do with the success of Journey is foolish thinking.

Respectfully,

Knox

If the induction WERE to happen, would Soto be with the guys as well?

He deserves to be there as much as Augeri does. He is keeping them on the road, which is about all the Steve did in consideration of their lack of album success.

Well we are still working on it. The vote for next year was at the end of May and the names on the resulting ballot should be made public around mid-September .

The HOF has a new executive director who has stated that he would like to see more fan involvement and less politics in the future.

The J2TH committee has always used the phrase "all members, past and present". This was an effort to remove the Pery vs. Augeri from our efforts and leave the decision up to the powers-that-be

So before you start beating me up here, fyi, I have been beaten up by/for the following:

by most BT'ers, for being co-chair of the committee and a Perry Fan. (I said "most" not all) :?

by some Perry fans who feel that I am betraying Perry for being involved in the effort (and working with the people who got the HWOF star and the BAMMIE star) :? [my personal opinion is that since the HWOF the man is out and about - it opened the door and he walked thru it - a big thank you to all]

by some Augeri fans who feel that by including Perry in the effort, Augeri is being slighted (I really don't know if the HOF would include SA anyway)

by Journey fans who know what is best for Journey, what they think, eat and drink and the band's opinion on being inducted (yes, yes I have read Neal's quotes)

By some people who worked on the HWOF effort and felt they should run everything - even tho I was involved by request from sane people who wanted to have a unified effort. :x

By Neal-heads who still feel slighted because Neal was not inducted with Santana and therefore Perry should not be inducted with Journey.

By Perry fans who feel that the effort is an invasion of his privacy and that he may feel pressured to do something he doesn't really want to do. :?:

By both journey fans and perry fans who assumed I was representing Perry and Kalodner (even demanding to know how much money Perry and JDK were paying me)

By Journey fans who felt they were in charge of the world and threatend Perry, perry fans and perry sites.

Haven't heard from anyone from the JSS camp yet - however some are the Neal-heads mentioned above.

I have no clue what will happen if Journey is on the ballot this year. There may be a lot of damage control needed due to tapegate - the 1500-2000 (depending on who you are reading at the moment) voting members should be receiving their ballots about now. Many are industry professionals, some are writers, some are the suits from the majors (even the minors as indies pick up) - so some may think that tapegate was a bad thing, and some may think it was time Journey did something.

If they do not get nominated and inducted this year, due to personal illness, I will be withdrawing from the effort. If a miracle happens and I win the lottery and have the money to get better, then hang on.

Cat? Is that the "Cat" formerly from BT?

Nice effort. Seriously, I applaud your effort. You don't sound like one of the sheep over there walking on the RR tracks.

I agree with you, if they can't get in this year, they never will. 28 said it before, Maybe VH needs to go in at the same time, as to open the door for 80's bands. Styx and REO, don't get your hopes up. I do believe Bryan Adams will be on the ballot this year. If he gets in before Journey, then it's all but over.

Deano, you;re absolutely right. They really need one of the "Arena Rock" bands to kick down the doors (Van Halen, as you mentioned, is the most likely possibility) and once the flood gates are open, I think more of said bands, like Journey, will make it in.
Remember, it takes time for bands and artists that aren't considered "Critics darlings" to get in. ZZ Top, Skynyrd and the Allmans , the holy trinity of Southern Rock, all took way longer than they should. But if a band like Skynyrd, who've replaced pretty much every member of the group two or three times over by now (Gary Rossington and Billy Powell exculded)can make it in, I think bands like Journey and Styx (and yes, even KISS) have a shot.
To the person who said that bands with a "fan base" never get in? " Uhh...U2, Springsteen, Led Zep, Sabbath, etc...I ciould be wrong, but I think those guys have fairly large fan bases...

Hey RND - good morning!!

Nope a different Cat - I have a few friends at BT, but most ignore me when I post (rarely) - felines are really good at ignoring right back.

As for this year, I don't have a guess - and I think you may be correct about Bryan Adams.

Until the names on the ballot are released, I am as much in the dark as anyone else.

Ciao

Just my point. Put JSS in there if you are going to put Augeri and Castronovo in there.

Thanks for agreeing with me.

Okay, well you seem cool as shit.

I DO think Adams will get in first ballot. His songwriting is steller. His album numbers are huge, and his hit songs are many. I think he does get in before Journey.

Isn't that ironic? For someone who was an opening act for Journey in the 80s and said that he was watching in amazement form the wings "this huge machinery called Journey" as he confessed.

Such is life...I agree BA will get in the Hall before the J boys.

No doubt in my mind that Augeri and Deen belong- but, at this point JSS doesn't- not until if/when he becomes a full fledged member of the band and they record a new CD with him. Having said that, I really like JSS and I think that he is the perfect singer/partner for Neal right now.

That would be sad IMO- I like BA, but I don't believe for one second he should get in before Journey.

If you think about it, Adams has done much more worldwide than Journey....He really is a lot more popular worldwide...it isn't close.
