Faith in the Heartland (live) JSS audio

Ok, this is from Jeff Scott Soto's 2nd night with the band. Virginia Beach, VA. The audio is ripped from the DVD. Too many obstructions to provide the video or I would have.

Skip the first minute of the mp3 as it's crowd stuff and the show intro (Faith was the opening song). Audio quality is so so, but I hadn't seen anything with Jeff doing this track online, so I thought this might be interesting. Last 10 seconds of the song are cut off because of the DVD video chapter.

Phenomenal.
This guy is one of the premier singers in rock....Jesus, this was EARLY on, too....he can only be better now.

What a weapon he is, to lose a vocalist the caliber of Augeri and come out with THIS guy.

I think he tries too hard to sound like Augeri. :P

not a good enough boot to make a judgement here this one is obviously a cheap recorder way back in the grass section

Naw, you can tell he has a nice thick voice....There isn't the feeling he will suddenly crack..really ensuring voice.

But dammit, the guitar solo is chopped off at the end.

The recorder was FAR from cheap. But yes, my guy had to shoot from the lawn. GTE Ampitheater is a tough place to record.

It's on track 2 of the DVD. 5 minute chapters unfortunately.

What? I love JSS but this is...well he's flat in some places & straining in others. Some bits sound reasonable but this is certainly not his best song. I never liked this song that much anyway.

They only did this song for 2-3 shows tho & I think he deserves a chance to get better at doing it & that knowing the kind of guy he is, he will (or he might already). I just don't think he's phenomenal on this recording on this nite.

Jeff sounded good(not great) on this song at the West Palm Beach show and they've dropped this song from the setlist since then, BUT you have to give Jeff alot of credit for having the guts to dive into a song that he wasn't exactly familiar with, with barely any rehearsal time...to me, that's impressive! I hope they can add FITH back to the setlist, because I think it's a perfect opening number and it gets the crowd pumped!

I don't think you will hear any more Gens songs sung by JSS anymore.

What's the deal with all the boots that came out with Jeff during the first few shows with Journey, and now there's no bootlegs since the break they took earlier this month? I know I've been waiting to hear what Jeff can do with proper rest, etc...But Journey won't be coming back this way any time soon. What's with the lack of west coast boots?

Hey man!

Did our home town show last weekend, where no one thought a Journey tribute would draw a crowd - They had to stop letting people in by 1030 because of fire code, so that was a nice fuck you very much to the naysayers.....There's video of "Faithfully" on our YouTube playlist, as well as Chad's keyboard solo he picked up from the Houston DVD....Not the best quality, but trying to keep current clips up there just the same: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p ... 376002D024

Not playing this weekend, but doing a downtown Charlotte Alive After Five show this Thursday....We will still be at Clarendon in October, but be sure to catch a show! We may be scaling back shows a little next year....

Looking forward to seeing you at the show...

Any luck on that possible Maryland gig?

I think NealisGod and I will be making the road trip to No VA though. I used to live in Reston, VA.

What do you mean "What?"

You saw what I wrote....JSS is every bit as capable of carrying on this catalogue and going forward as Augeri was. He rocks on this song.

"I never liked this song that much anyway."

Your Perryonly card is showing. The band's moved on and then some.

Yes...eight years after Perry left 95% of Journey's setlist is from the Perry era....they're really storming fearlessly into the future...

Holy cow Jeremey. That Stay Awhile clip. Yowsa! U just blew me away. U sure got a set of pipes on u. U can hit em & hold em that's for sure.

I love the fact that it's not a Perry imitation. U put ur own voice into it but hold true to the classic Perry sound. The one thing that spooks me about Hugo is that it's such a Perry imitation all around (not just his looks) & his voice doesn't have the magic. Urs does.

Oh & u look awesome in the coat tails w/leather pants. I like that. Do u ever get down to Florida at all?

I loved the comment there that ur better than Augeri! Hee hee.

Only thing I was wondering about. All the songs seem a bit faster to me then Journey versions. Is that my imagination or do u that deliberately? If so, do u mind me asking why?
