I just saw a commercial with BOB DYLAN singing and playing guitar, with those "silhouette people" dancing around, listening on their iPods.

 :x

It seems that that's the new way to get a snippet of a new song out these days....so, why can't Journey record a single with JSS and try this approach....?

....or hey, Steve P. - if you're listening....new approach for you, too.... 8)

Hey, Larry....

I'm just saying that from what I've read as of late, Neal is REALLY HAPPY with the addition of JSS.

And, coming from a "marketing" point of view, that would be AMAZING:

The "People know who "Journey" is already....but listen to WHAT WE'RE DOING NOW..." kind of approach.

...seeing an opportunity, and jumping on it.

Considering the people in the Journey camp aren't exactly great marketing people. I don't see it happening. Right now they could use ANY help they can get, no matter what people want to say about being a big concert draw right now. Actually in addition to being a big concert draw they should try to capitolize on that. But they won't.

Here's the commercial with BD.

Now, just visualize JSS and the boys doing this....or Steve Perry, solo....

Eweekly sometimes runs a "What was that song?" item in their magazine. They identify unknown songs from commercials (like the Dirty Vegas one from the car ad) that people ask about.

So... run a commercial geared towards X demographic... say the newest hybrid car... with a clip of something with JSS as the background music. Preferably, ad ends with a Neal shred-fadeout. Never mention the band or the music at all. The product has to be trendy, the ad has to be catchy. It should run in the evenings and primetime on popular channels. Then wait for people to ask "Who IS that? Where can I get that song?"

I bought that Dirty Vegas song just because I liked the commercial... so sue me. I'm not usually swayed by ads, trends, or viral marketing. But it worked, right? 8)
