Well….what can I say?...

First,I want to thank Andrew for being such a classy guy and putting up the news on the MR’s front page.I am honored. :)

About the book,…It wasn’t easy, but I am happy I brought it to life.
I really wanted to put together something that any Steve Perry/Journey fan would like to have at home…Including myself, lol.

A few things…

The pictures are all from Mike Hausmann’s personal collection. He was the only ex-official Journey photographer who was nice enough to give me permission to use the pictures.
The other photographers I have contacted were…absurd.I just couldn’t afford what they asked.
Anyway,no "personal pics"… ...
Hopefully one day,Steve Perry will write his autobiography and we'll all get to see pics we've never seen before.

Styxie,I have to ask…Are you saying you can't order the book from Lulu.com?No one reported that until now… :?

The distribution process is pretty complicated and it takes a bit of time.
According to the publishing house, the book will be up on Amazon,Barnes & Nobels,Borders within 6 weeks. This week the book was updated in Ingram's database and listed on Books In Print,so the online booksellers will take it from there..
Until it will be up on Amazon and others,it’s available on Lulu.com and I assure you that they are very prompt in deliveries.

I hope you all enjoy it...

Thanks for your kind words. :)

How did u get permission to write this?
Won't Steve Perry sue you for all your worth?

If I were you, I'd contact a good lawyer FAST.

I'm curious...before I actually buy the book, did you talk to Steve himself while writing it? Is it an authorized or unauthorized biography, or is it a book simply written from a fan's perspective? Just curious...

Ok...
TNC,I don't see why I would get sued for this.
Anyone has the right to write a book about a celebrity even without the celebrity's approval. There are hundreds of unauthorized bios of famous people out there and it's no big deal.
Although my book says *unauthorized* it doesn't mean it contains things that Steve Perry wouldn't approve.
This is not a book about his private life,it's about his public life, his career and such.Nothing slanderous, nothing dirty.Just an accurate story of his work.

This book is a tribute to an amazing singer.Nothing more, nothing less.

Yes,I tried to get in touch with Steve Perry,as I would've loved to have his consent.
But...ask Andrew how easy it is to reach SP.He knows better.I do too now.

I already heard someone saying that this book must be a copy/paste job.
Fortunately,I am a writer, not a xerox.I wrote this book with my own words,in my own style,so I guess that makes it original.

The stories of the fans are put together in one of the final chapters of the book.
I wanted to have the testimonies of those who saw Steve Perry with Journey on stage. They are all great concert memories.

And yes,Fred...You can say this book it's written from a fan's perpective,because I am one. :)

From the impression I've gained of Shania in my couple of months on this forum, SP will be inviting Shania out to dinner (and probably even a sleepover!) as soon as he reads this book. I'd bet my bottom dollar he'll be as flattered as hell when he reads it - which I've no doubt he will.

TNC, when your kid brings home an A do you ask them first if they cheated?

I got your email,G.,but I am too caught up...
I don't know what to say about those bookstores...The best thing is to order it online,
otherwise if you don't have Barnes&Noble etc. out there,I can't see how you could get it.
Let me know if you can order it online,if not,I'll think of something...

Congrats "Shania"

I was asked to contribute in March.
I didn;t receive any other information about the book
except it was about Rock N Roll & it was confidential info as the book was still being written.
Although I was extremely flattered
I declined for various reasons.

Is this an authorized biography or unauthorized?
Fans stories are fans stories.
They're just a surf & google away & available all over the internet & Steve Perry sites.
Really was a great idea to take part as a member all the while scoping for information for a book.
Thank you, Shania for putting it all together in one place for all of our convienence & enjoyment.
Shania is very clever indeed!

If I had known Steve Perry was the sole subject of this book.....well things may have been different.
I'll not give away my accounts on the subject as they are too near & dear to my heart.

Just curious really. I used to work for a small independent press- art books mostly. I am thinking about a few options for a novel I'm working on. The cost can be enormous, as I'm sure you know. Did you have it printed in Romania? Did you do the design as well? I have a slew of questions for self publishing. Good on you for achieving this!

There is so much of it on the internet available for free.

Well, that was the idea...To have SP's career story in one place. And in print, because I believe in the magic of the books...They will soon be gone and replaced by e-books and who knows what else. :( Internet is good,is free(sorta, lol),but it can't be compared to a real book.

Sorry for all the secrecy,Shadow.I had my reasons, too.

The book it's *unauthorized*,just as all the Steve Perry fan sites on the www are *unofficial*. :)
