Virtual Forum!

Postby styxman » Wed Sep 13, 2006 3:01 am

I happened to be watching the news this morning and there was a discussion about virtual web shops, etc. You know like the Sims but for retail purposes. I'm thick when it comes to the web but my take on it was this.......You have a virtual image on the net....a computerized version of your good self, you visit stores and try on shoes, clothes etc, if you like the look you then go and buy the real thing..anyway enough of that shit..here's were it gets interesting Duran Duran are going to be the first virtual band on the net, cool for them and their fans I guess!
Anyway wouldn't it be great to carry the concept onto forums..I wonder who would be the first to do it? Just imagine we all get a computerized presence that would look like our real self, no hiding what we look like etc, I'm all for that...we could tweak our bulge and the chicks could air brush and enlarge important parts for us guys. You can visit places in cyberspace and hold meetings, get togethers and even have a drinking session for christ sake! I guess Duran Duran will hold a virtual concert, you buy tickets online and gain entry, whacky ain't it.
Wouldn't it be great to have a Journey Virtual presence were we could talk with the band, hang out etc...it's limitless and it's hapenning. I guess the first American band to do it, has to be Aerosmith.
Shadow, you could even be able to bring that Budgie of yours along, a virtual cheerio shitting budgie, now how cool would that be  Shania you could in the future release a virtual book and get these virtual people to come on in and buy..Deano you could fuck anything or anybody in this virtual world...open up a knocking shop and invite the gang in...unbelieveable technology.
Anyone clued up on this type of technology......Fred?

LOL! I have been on Second Life before... I barely figured out how to change my character's appearance, let alone kill it.

The Sims is fun, though, and a lot easier IMO! But you can't play online, that's the problem.

It's interesting to see what Duran Duran do....I guess it'll be like an online email chat, except they'll be there and these virtual people will come on it and chat.....can't wait to see what happens. I guess if Journey did the same knowing the females on this site it would be gang bang band time, all hell would be let loose, and then we all know who would come in for seconds (and I don't mean me)
I'd sure like a virtual duck site, that would be great fun
That site you posted looks okay, you died:shock:

Did you have to send a picture of yourself and they create your virtual image?

No, sorry, it's up to the user to manually edit their appearance. That's why it was so tough, and the graphics aren't as good as The Sims, probably because it is live online...

Come on, you know Journey would never do something like this. Look how long it took them to finally get an official MYSPACE! They haven't seemed eager to talk to the fans in years, besides.

So this new concept may create an actual likeness for us...I guess it'll cost a bit! I can see Yulog going in and saying, nope just make me look like one of those stupid fucking yellow things...that right Yul? Shadow, you could fly with the birds in the sky....you'll always going on about that aren't ya

You need an ATI card to really get the whole graphic bit working right for you plus there are settings in the preferences to get right for maximum enjoyment. Getting a custom avatar look can be aided by buying a pre-formed avatar or buying the right skin. The place is great and sooooooooooooooooo much better than this forum format for interaction. There is a U2-clone/tribute band in-game already and they have concerts too.

I guess that's my problem... I don't want to buy anything. I know things cost "real" money in that game.

LOL but if you have talents, you can sell them too.

Second Life’s users may be playing a game, however, this virtual world is blurs the line of reality by having its own functioning economy.

US$1 buys 300 Linden dollars for use in the game to buy goods such as clothes, virtual real estate and much, much more. While only half of the players spend money online, many characters run businesses and earn an income. Some are known to earn over six figures, which makes this security breech far more than kids play.

A number of large corporations such as Coca-Cola have set up shop inside the virtual world, as have prominent authors and musicians.
