Dude, I have feathered my abuseful tactics, err, constructive criticisms and have gone international....to the Def Lippard Board. I saw this there.
Did YOU really say this? And if so, you should be banned for being a dickhead. I think someone quoted you out of context.

I'll take Joe Elliott's voice over any other's. Period.
Dude, I can sing circles around that Limey.

Def Leppard
Poison
Guns 'N Roses

Well even on TBF....kind of a sour album to most but...some of the songs were RIPE with emotion. May be a cheesy song to most but "When I Think Of You" is one....and "One More" just has a lot of power. Not to mention "When You Love A Cat"...I mean "WOMAN".

Banned for life!!!! I love Def Leppard, but I've never listened to them for Joe's vocals, like I listened to Journey for Perry's. Leppard has great dual guitar work and great hooks.

Hey bud, how are you? I thought of you last night with the 27-0 beatdown your "professional" team took in the ass.
They should save the airfare and mail the next 15 games in. They are as bad as Tennessee and Green Bay.

Yeah I know, they need a whole new offensive line. Robert Gallery is a joke! He's another Tony Mandarich. Luckily I didn't use a vacation day to stay home and watch it. (I work 3rd shift) I followed it on the gametracker here at work. The Raiders I love were back in the day, Stabler, Plunkett, Branch, Tatum, and most of all Lester Hayes. It's going to be a long year. But on the bright side, my fantasy team won, I have the highest point total in the league. The second place team is 20 pts. behind.

Joe Elliot! WTF!
I don't think coke could be strong enough to elicit the kind of trip that this dude is on! Crack maybe though!
Watch out man your teeth can literally fall out through excessive use of crack! Def Leppard's roadies might prefer the gummy BJ you provide in future attempts to get backstage for a meet and greet with the vocal god that is Joe Elliot but yer cousin Billy Bob probably won't!

Deano- I hate to kill your thread, but that quote is not taken from "28's" post.
That quote is taken from a poster named "Ladyslang9", who is a long-time DL fan.
I should know, as she's one of my good friends
Please go over an re-read that thread sir- Your shooting the wrong target on this one!

I Did go back and scour that thread. I am thinking the DL people are misqoting 28 on purpose. 28 has always been sensible....a little gay, but sensible.
Your DL friens then, is the one on Crack.

Well, your entitled to your opinion. And while I have to agree that SP and even JSS have much better voices that JTE-
I still see LS9's point. Something about the man's voice ( and the whole band for that matter!) "get's to" me. Has for over 20 years.
That being said- I do like Journey too. I know that they blew the roof ( such as it was lol!) off the place when I saw them.
SOOOO, Let's just agree to disagree. My point was to show that you had quoted/blamed the wrong person here.
No harm- No foul!

Me Too! hey, they're hilarious, you can't compare them to Journey, but Tommy Lee went to college-that was a good show!!!

He couldn't even play on the drumline til they private tutored him.

I just posted a review of Red Rocks and I do speak of DL as well. From my experience. the DL fans do not "care" so much about Joe's vocals. There is not a high expectation for his live vocals. JSS DID sound better than Joe (when I could hear them). end Jrnyman28 post
Lady Slang's reply
I respectfully disagree. I was drawn to Def Leppard long before I ever saw this band live -- simply by the quality of Joe Elliott's vocals.
The man's voice is not what anyone would call classic or classically trained, but it is compelling and the primary reason I listen to Def Leppard's music. Elliott's voice has a sound that touches souls.
Sure, there are better singers out there. People who can sing well are easy to find. I would even venture to say that half of the people I know who sing in the shower can sing better than Joe Elliott.
But no one else I've ever heard has the same "soul" in their voice that Joe Elliott does.
Tune into your television one night and listen to those wanna be rock stars (country stars) sing. Many have excellent voices. I haven't yet heard one that has a unique voice -- a compelling voice -- a voice that speaks to the soul.
Joe Elliott's voice is different, I'll grant that. But it is in that difference that I find music that has become the soundtrack for my life.
When the song is "right" for Joe Elliott -- there is no one out there who can compare to his sound for me.
The singers who have fronted for Journey over the years all have had excellent voices. Steve Perry could sing "rings around most humans" when it comes to pitch, technique, etc. - but what good is the singer when his voice rouses no emotion - when his sound leaves you cold?

LS9's response to Jrnyman28- NOT HIS opinion, but her's!
Peace!

You're right you really can't compare them to Journey....apples and oranges. But for raw 80s debauchery....their Carnival of Sins concert was pretty good.
