Bad day for Perry?

I was listening to a Journey show from the Escape Tour, recorded in Japan, date say 7-31-81, don't know if it is right or not. But the show has just about all of Escape played in a row, but different order from the album. Cain plays a Bay's song too. But I was blow away by how bad Perry sounds on this show. It is not horrible, but for Perry is pretty bad. Missed notes, came in too early on a song (did a good job covering it up), but his voice just sounds bad. Half way thru he stopped trying for those impossible notes, and brought them down to Earth.
Like I said unusal for Perry, dude almost sounded hoarse or like he was sick. Anyone else got this show?
And no I am not trying to pick on Perry, just found this odd-ERIC

Please post it if you can. Also, remove that ridiculous picture from the bottom of your posts. For a rock band Journey looks like they're posing for an episode of 7th Heaven or a Village People promo.

"Vocal decline" would be an opinion. Personally, I like his voice MUCH better on Frontiers, even though the musicianship is not as good as Escape.

Even in decline, he is still a great singer, if he would just get out there and sing-ERIC

Haven't been yet but it is supposedly at the new MySpace site. However, he wants something no one has used before and I think someone already is.

How could his voice be in decline in 1981 when morea albums came out after that tour. 1996 TBF which is my favorite. Steve sounded great on it. He also sounds fantastic on the David Pack CD. Don't know that he could tour that much at his age and with some medical problems that he eludes to besides his hip.

Either way--he is the best Rock and Roll singer/song writer ever!!! :D :D :D

Factor this in............... Herbie had them on those killer tours back in the 80's. If you look at the tourdates, damn, Journey was on the road for well over a year per album, I think. I don't doubt for one second that Perry, on that boot, might of been sick and hoarse. Those guys sure did tour themselves to death back then.

I've got the cd and dvd from that show, it is from Tokyo Japan 7-31-81. Personally, I think he sounds ok, but he does look tired and a couple times during that concert you can see him pinch his nose and blow like he is trying to un-pop his ears or something.....maybe he had a cold, who knows.
This youtube below is from the same concert.

I was just going to post a thread asking where Abitaman is and I was semi worried about him, and that I was hard on him, but he was a good guy. Then, I have to see that sonofabitch in his avatar. Looks like they are pushing him off a cliff...I wish they were.
