Augeri in Holmdel - bad form?

While Steve is inarguably entitled to take in a concert for leisure, or to see his former co-workers, perhaps now is not the best time for him to be making a public reapperance.
The word "premature" comes to mind.

I mean, let's think about this; can anyone imagine Steve Perry showing up at a Journey concert immediately after the TBF fiasco went down?
Of course not.
These are tumoultous rocky times for Journey.
The fanbase is trying to cope and the band is trying to re-invent themselves.
To live up to his diplomatic good-guy reputation, perhaps Steve should give the band the time needed to move on w/ JSS.

Until a more conclusive statement is released by mngt regarding Steve's situation, any re-emergence of him in association with Journey will only breed divisiveness, angst, and ultimately, confusion.
These are my $.02.
I'm sure you all have yours.

Maybe he's trying to be a fly in the oinyment. He still has a lot of "weight" behind him over at BT. If he were ever to make a move to get his job back, this might be the time. Before he can be simply swept under a rug. Not sure he has a prayer. But I can understand if this is his reasoning.

Literally.

But seriously, BT is NOTHING. No one really takes that Board seriously. People come here for the real deal.

He seems like the only one who doesn't know he has been canned.

Dean, you are wasting your comedic talents.....you need to be in real show business, get a stand-up act or atleast write for one!

Maybe he just wanted to go to the concert to have a good time, check in with his bandmates, and wish JSS well.

He is a part of Journey still, like it or not. He has every right to be there if he wants to.

His appearance speaks volumes as far as his association with the band and his relationship to ALL of them. He is a genuinely nice person, and it would seem that he gets along well with everyone. By going to the concert and making a public appearance like that, he may be saying......"I didn't do anything I shouldn't have done, my bandmates are in full support of me."

The only people who seem to actually HATE this man are the very few who post here on this board.
Yeah, that will teach him.

No it doesn't.
The guy could be chummy only with Jon, and for that alone, he secures the right to go hang out backstage.

No.
The band publicly stating their support of him and NOT throwing him out would've expressed that.

Ok.
Well in that case, Neal should let him back into the band any day now.

Hey Deano. I haven't posted in a while, but am here every day. I have one question about this post. Let me preface by saying I believe you make some very good points on here. My question is Jeff just posted today or yesterday that Steve has many friends and his bandmates on this tour, and they were all happy to see him. Are you saying that is not so?

I have one question here as well. He can be chummy with only Jon. I was under the assumption that he and Deen were very close. It was Deen's shoulder he laid his head on walking offstage after his last show.

Don't be so literal.
Steve could ONLY be friends with Neal's illegal mexican gardener and still get backstage.
The point is, being backstage isn't demonstrative proof that Augeri is on good terms with all of his bandmates (as "Cantbleeveit" would misguidedly have u believe).

You know there is something called PEACE, people either have it in their heart or they don't. Steve A. is obviously a wonderful person or he wouldn't be singing the songs the way he does or the kind of songs. No matter what has transpired between him and the band, he's showing that he has grace and is free to live his life as he wants to. There is nothing unprofessional about him going to a Journey show. He wouldn't be offended if Steve Perry showed up at one of his concerts, these are professional vocalists, they aren't in competition-this isn't a sport.
Live and Let Live ya know, no word from the band obviously means loose ends have not been tied up yet- imo that's all it means.

Are you trying to be sarcastic?
Surely, nobody can be this much of a flatlining retard, can you?

Sure there is, when the band at hand has just switched singers, and is in a volatile state of transition.

steveforever wrote:He wouldn't be offended if Steve Perry showed up at one of his concerts, these are professional vocalists, they aren't in competition-this isn't a sport.

If Perry showed up during one of the band's first non-Perry tours I think the guys would be plenty pissed and terrified.

That's just the thing, maybe they aren't after all in a state of transistion, but its seriously just what they've stated-a throat infection? I don't know either way nor claim to know, I'm just saying I think Steve is at peace and is a nice person-I'm a retard for thinking that? okay I'm a retard. You are correct though about the Perry idea, that was retarded, they would be pissed and scared if he showed up- 100% true. If Steve A. had to sing to tapes then it was only because they had to keep performing til they could get a replacement, I don't care what they did to keep the show on the road-I love Journey and am not an expert on anything

Augeri in.....

All I am saying is that Steve Augeri is a nice guy, who is going thru a nightmare for a vocalist. He has lost his voice. It isn't that Neal won't ALLOW him to sing. He simply CANNOT sing, at this time. He needs to heal his vocal chords. Anyone who was in attendance at the first few shows of this tour can post that he didn't sound like himself, he sounded very hoarse. Clearly having vocal problems.

The band had no choice but to replace him for this tour. JSS is amazing, but it hasn't been clearly stated that he is permanent. Everyone can speculate on this, but the fact remains that no official word has been sent out.

Steve remains friendly with ALL the members of the band. They worked together for eight years, as a close unit. Anyone who thinks a medical problem would lead any one of the band members to turn their backs on each other, is reaching for straws. Many fans want JSS to stay. Many fans want SA back. Hell, a ton of fans want SP back. It has absolutely nothing to do with the friendships that have been forged between these guys. Even JSS stated in his post that he is a friend of Steve's, and I would imagine he has a great deal of respect for him.

I wouldn't be a bit surprised if Steve showed up at Mohegan Sun, smiling and cheering on his friends. Its what he would do, and its what he should do if he chooses. And if he is there, you can bet he will be interacting with his fans and chatting up a storm. He is just that kind of person.

Ahh, now I get it.
You're one of those poor benighted cranks that resides in Dimension X.
Y'know, the place where people believe Ross and Smitty truly left over creative differences, where Perry is on the mend to belatedly tour for TBF, and where Augeri is sipping chicken noodle soup to aid his throat.
See, I am operating on that dimensional plane known as "reality".

steveforever wrote:I'm just saying I think Steve is at peace and is a nice person-I'm a retard for thinking that?

No, you're a retard for saying that Steve unequivocally must be a wonderful person or else he wouldn't be singing "the songs the way he does or the kind of songs."
What a devastatingly naive view on life.

What if I were to tell you that The Unabomber also shared a soft spot for warmed-over pop balladry.
Would that change your personal feelings regarding him?

TNC, you so funny  I don't literally believe anything I read on here, but honestly I do believe Steve is NOT part of the performing part of the band anymore, but maybe he really did have to keep singing til they found someone to replace him-there's probably not a plethora of singers out there to choose from that can do it. I do believe Steve A. is a gentile person that tried his best and really did get a chronic throat infection...

Okay Charlie Manson? my point was he isn't singing gangsta rap all up in ya grill my brotha, he's singing Journey-got it? go back to cleaning your gun now. 8)

Augeri sighting? If Journey is canning Augeri...why would he be showing up? Augeri is making his appearence known as if saying "I'm still here....and I'll be back sooner or later." That is just how I feel considering there is an update I suppose.

Augeri will be back.

Or perhaps saying "You can't get rid of me that easily"?

There are several ways to interpret an appearance. If his throat/voice is still out of whack, a smoke-filled, germ-infested concert venue where one is bound to be pelted with questions would not be my first choice.

LOL.
You poor impoverished fools!
You're all grasping at straws for something, ANYTHING, that will give you a kernel of hope as to Augeri's status in Journey.

Augeri has always said that if he was replaced by Perry he'd be first in line to go see a show.
This is no different.
Sure, there may have been some alterior power-play motives on his part, but it's all for naught.
He won't be returning to the fold.

I think going to a Journey show so soon is in bad taste and disrespectful for what Jeff and the guys are trying to accomplish out there right now.

TNC is 100% right on this.

Him coming back, giving the Herd hope...He reads these forums, he knows the Poundage love him. He is trying a power play, and JSS is just being JSS..Classy, well spoken, and all that, however, what he can't say, I can. Auger, you greedy motherfucker. Wasn't it bad enough to almost singlehandily disgrace Journey? You want to polish em off?

Get this through your head. if you cannot sing, you are NOT coming back. Dude, you cannot sing. And if you tell me this little rest you have had has cured you, then why the fuck didn't last years hiatus JAN-JUN help you? You were awful in every situation you had to sing live...the first 5 shows of Generations tour, the Carolina shows and lest we not forget, the Manchester UK show. Shall I post that brilliant performance of Faithfully to remind you? Have you heard it Steve?

Dude, you are an embarrassment. Do yourself a favour and keep the little dignity you have left and just go away.

Why are you getting so defensive? Lets fuckin face it..Jeff Scott Soto is a great vocalist. He has done a superb job in filling in on a big tour like this. BUT HE ISN'T THE MAN FOR JOURNEY. He simply can't sing Journey songs the right way. Why do you think Castranova have been singing 2-3 songs during the tour? Because Soto doesn't have the sound to sing certain songs, or the range. He is a backup. Augeri is Journey...and the reason why we can even have these conversations. The only way Soto can possibly Surpass Augeri, is if Augeri's Vocal's are seriously that damaged. If Steve is ready to go, he's ready, and will get back. Besides, Soto has his own thing, and own bands to tend to..

You all know why SA was at the last concert...he lost his fucking voice in 2005 and he's still trying to find the fucking thing. Someone tell him to try and whistle, look just below the nose and maybe, this is just a guess something might be hiding in the opening there. Keep the mouth shut though, we don't need to here what comes out, we've all got it on tape.

Only if u promise to face up to the fact that Augeri had been recieving "enhancements" in concert since The Main Event tour(if not earlier).

And at the moment, Augeri hasn't the range to sing ANY Journey songs.
Also, utilizing Deen is to foresightedly take the strain off the lead vocalist, something that might've extended Augeri's Journey career had it been employed earlier.

No one man is Journey.
If one man is Journey it is most likely Neal or Herbie.
