JSS I think you rock and have a killer voice......But...

I think Dean's voice fits the tunes better. I just heard Dean singing open arms and faithfully.... Holy crap ! I think he fits the tunes more than Steve A did. Just my opinion. Not putting down anyone. I am honestly surprised that they didnt get Dean to do it all. It would be way eaiser to find a fill in drummer for Journey than to find a fill in singer. Maybe Dean can handle the songs he does plus backup and thats it. I can understand vocal fatigue and how freaking hard it is to sing that stuff for a few hours not too mention a whole tour. I do very much appreiciate JSS for taking on what had to be a very scary and intimidating gig with so much grace. It reminds me of Genesis when Gabriel left. Phil Collins vocals fit the old tunes like a glove but he had to hire Bill Bruford and then Chester Thompson to play drums most of the show.

DEEN does not want to be frontman, but I agree that his voice is superb.

Come on, people, I told you all before...

Deen CANNOT come out front and be the lead singer of this band because of his 'surgical enhancements'!!!

A few years back, when it looked like Mr Augeri would need more time in each set to rest his voice, Deen was whisked away to a secret medical facility somewhere in the valley. It was there that he had a synthetic air bladder implanted just underneath his breatbone. This air bladder is connected, via tiny ducts and tubes, to both his shoulders and his wind pipe. When Deen flaps his arms to play drums, the bladder is 'pumped' and air is sent directly to his throat and vocal chords, thus allowing him to hit those stellar Perry-esque highs while drumming like a madman.

If Deen just came out front and took over as lead, he would have to flap his arms like a damn chicken the whole show and that, quite frankly, would look absolutely ridiculous!

So now you know why Deen cannot and won't ever be the Lead Singer of Journey :)

Deen can sing, he can sing pretty good too. But to be a frontman you gotta be also the showman! Journey is all about the showman. I think Deen's vocals are good, though somebody like a JSS can take it to another level, notch it up a couple of gears - that's his job, and I suppose he has trained his voice to do so.

Ok after seeing Mother Father now I am really sold on him. Damnit Deen ! Learn some Elvis moves like the hip wiggle or leg shake and get out front. I know you love drumming but man you could save Journey. I love JSS for his work but a Journey with him will sound like Soul Sirkus and I bet that Cain will split. You have the range, power and tonality to do it which makes you one in a million.

This arguement is irrelavent as I have explained in my previous post above...
Not to mention completely ridiculous and old.
Come on, if you're gonna rag on Jeff at least come up with an original idea :)

I don't necessarily want Deen out front......but definately want him to continue singing at least a few songs each concert! The man is mega talented. :)

Man im not ragging on Jeff ! I have much respect for him. I just think that the Journey sound is like a formula. As much as people say they dont want a Perry clone I think that Journey is best suited to that. The formula = Schon's sytle + crystaling soraing vocals. Steve A did ok with this as he had the range but not the power. JSS has the power but not the range. DEEN has both and its rare. If they keep JSS they might as well change the name. THey could still make great music however I think that its a disservice to the legacy of Journey to call it Journey without that formula intact.

Well then the answer's just clear. Steve A and Jeff need to hump and have a kid, somehow. The science is there. Send 'em to Red China...the scientists over there will make something. What if they have a girl? Even better. Range'll be higher. But say it;'s a guy, even if it's a girl. Got an image to uphold. Then, we freeze Neal and Deen and Jon. Ross looks like the old man of the sea already, he'll live long enough and probably still look the same.

Come about 2029 we'll have an awesome new Journey.

Amen brother.

I have nothing against JSS, I never even heard of him until this happened a few months ago but I liked his voice so much that I purchased a few things by him. But he is not the voice for Journey. Augeri was/still is a perfect fit if SP was not to be ever again.

Big J, I know your avatar is the cover of "Sad Wings of Destiny," one of the greatest albums of all time, but what does it say across the bottom??
