ABC came up with a new TV show for next summer called The Imposter.

Specific plans for "The Imposter" are still being set, but the production will scour the country for individuals who can do a great impersonation of a famous person, be it a musician, actor or athlete. The best of the best will be rounded up for an impersonation contest that will entail more than just looking like a particular celebrity.

"If you're impersonating Madonna, for instance, you can't just lip-sync, you'll have to really perform," said executive producer Peter Engel, who hopes to attract cameos from the celebrities being impersonated if "Imposter" reaches hit status.

Jeremy has more sustained power in his vocals than Hugo does.

Based on the two mp3's of Ask The Lonely, I'd say Jeremy is the winner (for the record, I know nothing about this Jeremy guy). The Hugo guy just freaks me out too much. Anyone trying to look and act like Perry that much probably needs a new hobby. I still say Perry should sue the guy for stealing his identity!

I'd definitely go with Jeremey too, on vocals.

But the producers want people who can look AND sound like celebs... I think Hugo would get it in the lookalike category. No offense to Jeremey but Hugo wins on Perry cloning ability. The guy is creepily uncanny. If I were Perry I'd be a little spooked by him.

Cool idea, but you will never see a Perry impersonator on a show like that.. They've got to get permission to use that material set to video, & the whole carnival atmosphere of the thing doesn't appear to lend itself to what Perry usually okays, I wouldn't think.

Here's a thing though...why does the impression only require singers to sound like the people they are impersonating? So if you really have to perform (sing as Madonna, then would a Mike Tyson look-a-like have to literally beat the piss out of someone? Or would a Hillary Clinton look a like really have to be able to govern? Kind of a double standard, to me.

Hey, thanks you guys. But JW is right, I really don't appear "as" Steve Perry in our shows. I wear the jacket as a nod to the man, but I don't think this is a singing contest, Hugo sure looks a lot more like Steve Perry than I do, which is where I think this TV show would be going.
