OT: Elton John

Postby Deb » Sun Oct 01, 2006 4:06 am

Saw Elton John and his band in concert last night, and he was f***ing amazing!!!! Definately still got the pipes and the fingers! Played for well over 2 1/2 hours with no intermission. If you get a chance to catch a show on this tour, you won't be disappointed! He played about 5 songs from his new Captain and the Kid cd (couple really good ones, played these all back to back around 2/3 of the way through, drink/bathroom breaktime  ), but the rest was all the HITS! Some songs he rocked, not in any order:

Rocketman
Bitch is back
Mona Lisa, Madhatters
Your song
Levon
Bennie and the Jets
Philadelphia Freedom
Don't Let the sun go down on me
Crocodile rock
Tiny dancer
Someone saved my life tonight
Daniel
Sad songs
Sorry seems to be the hardest word
Saturday nights allright for fighting
Goodbye yellow brick road

I am a huge EJ fan and have seen him 3 times.
Always a good show, glad you got to see him.
I'm asking for the second coming of Captain Fatastic
for my 36th birthday, hope I get it!

Why would his new stuff be a good excuse to get drinks? It's his best album in ages.

What is it with old fans not even giving a shit about artists' new material? You think people who like EJ or Journey or whoever enough to pay upwards of $100 for a ticket would at least be willing to listen to their new albums.

Just a fact of life bud......some people take a break when the new stuff is played....doesn't matter who you are. I stayed and listened and like my first post says I really liked a couple of them. And as for Journey....have damn near everything they ever did new and old (except for that friggin ROR tape that Deano keeps dangling over us  ) .

the one and only time I saw him Live was about 11 years ago. Kicked ass for roughly 3 hours, with funeral for a friend and love lies bleeding taking a good 25 minutes of that concert. Was glad to get tickets then for $28.50, and hear most of his hits, with a few of later exceptions live. Awesome was just the only way to describe him "live".

Loved Tiny dancer and Levon........and Crocodile rock/Philadelphia Freedom/Saturday nights all right for fighting....brought the house down. LOL and tix have gone up a bit  $150 CDN -but worth every penny!

Deb, I couldn't get the Elton John video to send from iTunes, I'll figure it out tomorrow.
