Augeri's sweet revenge

Y’know, if there’s anyone entitled to feel as dejected and trodden upon as Steve Augeri probably does right about now, it’s gotta be the members of Talisman. Here they were, gradually paying their dues and making some minor ripples in the niche melodic rock English pub scene, and Jeff lands a one-way ticket to the big leagues (YES, Monker, u pitch-fork toting, overall-wearing shitbagger, Journey is still considered the big leagues!)

If I were one of Jeff’s erstwhile bandmates, in between drowning my sorrows in endless steins of beer, I’d prolly be looking to give a few singers a call for tryouts right about now.
Say, can anyone here think of a singer suddenly facing an indefinite period of down time on his hands?

Member(s) of Talisman and Journey were both recently left twisting in the wind by their bandmates , it seems only logical that they pool their collective talents together and give those that betrayed them a Taiwanese government bamboo-reed ass thrashing!

Now that I've laid out the groundwork for this sure-to-be stellar lineup, all these unemployed bums have to do is simply borrow a quarter and go down to the bus station and call each other up!

So if you’re as amped as I clearly am, use this thread to show your love for the inevitable

Who says Jeff won't still sing Talisman? They are taking the year off for the most part next year, so maybe we should ask the man himself.

Who's "they"? Journey? Taking most of the year off?

while most here are against Augeri, I would go to see him if he came close by, and would (will) by his cds. Like it or not Augeri is part of Journey's history. And all though I support Journey's new line up (which they are awesome, Nashville was just that), and I will support any member of Journey past or present-ERIC

After 6 months of singing Journey material, I think it would be wise for Jeff to give his voice a much needed rest, rather than go on another full blown tour with Talisman...just my opinion.

It does seem a shame that Talisman 7 will be released with no tour to support it. It does remind me a little of the Trial By Fire scenario although inevitably plenty of Journey fans will pick up the CD because of Jeff's involvement.

SA in Talisman? Don't think so. He ain't right for them.

Plus if they swapped singers like that it would become like a village full of inbreds.

Och well. Journey, Soul Sirkus, Bad English and Hardline is already a village full of inbreds.

Why not add Talisman to the population?

I (unlike the majority here) like Augeri a lot. I feel sorry for him- sorry, but I do.
He was put in the unenviable position of filling in for a legend and while he did a
great job for a number of years, he fell into trouble at the end. Big Deal.
The guy still has a great voice, a good manner, and I wish him the best.
When I heard that he was going to sing for Journey, I thought it was cool
because I had the Tall Stories disc since it came out. A friend of mine
worked in Seattle radio and they wouldn't play it because they were
too busy jumping on the grunge bandwagon...

Oh, hey... To the world:

Sorry about grunge! It wasn't my fault! I just live here.

Anyway, the CD was great, I wore it out (Check out Sister of Mercy. Killer friggin' song).

Anyway, when I heard he was gonna take Perry's spot, I was pretty excited about it.
Tall Stories were a great band that had a great album and Steve got to step up after
TS broke up.

It's too bad that what happened did, but if he put out something again, I'd buy it in a second.
I like what he brought to the Journey party. Shit happens. The voice is a physical thing subject
to a lot of stress. Losing your voice could happen to anybody. It happens to more people than
we'll ever know. The solution wasn't the best, but what happened happened.
I say good luck to him. I wish peeps would get off his back.

It's not like he made up a bunch of lies and bombed a country or anything...

Knock it off with the moral relativism stuff.
Listen, I am an Augeri fan, but if drastic measures weren't taken, he'd still be on-stage lipping 85% of the setlist and cheating his fans.
I thought Steve had more class than that.

Steve Augeri,

Dude, I know I haven't exactly been your best friend, however, I am putting this crap behind us and moving on. Maybe we should all do that?

Yeah, best of luck in whatever you do in the future.

I'll say what I want. Everybody else here does.
I never said that he should still be in Journey. I said everybody can
have problems and it's a drag what happened. It is. The guy's
career is probably completely ruined. I guess I could've called him
a c*cks*cker and maybe I'd fit in with the general vibe a bit more.
Did I say anywhere that what happened shouldn't have?
Relax. Just some of the stuff I read here about the whole thing
is pretty over-reactive- your reply included.

Then you risk the repurcussion of me rubbing your face in your own insanity.
What Augeri did is somehow "ok" because he didn't do anything on the scale of inavding Iraq?
What a devastatingly retarded argument.

I think telling someone to cease making the moral equivalency between lip-synching and warfare is pretty rational.

"Give up", what?
Perry is long-gone and he is still the topic of many a raging debate.
Should all those people be slapped with a gag order and shut their mouths, too?

You missed the point  .

The POINT was that with SOME REACTIONS on THIS board to the whole thing, they want him hauled out shot, gassed, burned, crapped on, neutered, crucified, etc.

MY POINT is that people have over reacted to the entire thing and it's nothing to get so up in arms about.
All he did was synch some vocals and risk the credibility of a BAND (that arguably doesn't have much cred in 2006 anyway). Keep things in perspective and get pissed about stuff that really matters (Ah! That's where the Bush reference comes in). He ain't the only guy to do this but he's one of the few that got caught.

My statement was in regard to the reaction of some, not to what Augeri did.
There IS a difference between that and what you're saying.
Again, relax.

Not me. I just wanted the band to give him the time needed to heal, or to make the decision to get someone new.
Cheating the fans is never permissible.

brywool wrote: He ain't the only guy to do this but he's one of the few that got caught.

The only song he sang 100% without tapes is LTS.
That is scandalous.
I know of other bands that use tapes, but not to the extent they were using them.
Thank god for Deen Castronovo - at least people were paying form some live vocals.

Keep things in perspective and get pissed about stuff that really matters (Ah! That's where the Bush reference comes in).

As a concerned citizen and a concerned Journey fan, I am pissed both about Bush's immoral war and Augeri's immoral use of tapes. They are not mutually exclusive.

Umm, you need to make up your mind there...
In one post you're pissed because you thought I likened the two acts, and now you're combining them.
Anyway, sounds like you're pretty upset there.
I guess I could delete my post if it offends you so. OR you could just pass over it and not agree with it.
What and When he lip synched are still up for debate in my opinion.
As for giving him time to heal- I don't think they could do that. They HAD to do this tour AND the Euro tour. That's WHY he had to lip. He wasn't ready but the band was in a bind. To me, it's not that big of a deal.

I did not combine them.
I said I can be disgruntled about a misbegotten imperialist venture and at the same time be pissed at a singer who cheats his fans.
I can be angry at a host of diff. things at the same time.

Your opinion is wrong.
Many people know the specifics.

He had to lip to finish the already in-progress Generations tour, but the UK tour hadn't even begun yet.
They could have and should have reneged on that and the Def Leppard tour.

People can talk about whatever they want.
Perry's fake hip injury, Augeri's use of tapes, Dumbar's pedophiliac tendencies - u name it, it's all fair game here.
