Jeff Scott Soto gives credibility back to Journey

With Jeff Scott Soto as the new & permanent lead singer of Journey, they have credibility as a classic rock band again. His stage presence, vocals, and knowledge of Journey's history make him the best choice as lead singer. Journey made a wise choice in selecting JSS instead of another Perry clone like Augeri.

No one is accusing JSS of lip synching during concerts. No one is claiming that JSS's vocals are inaudible at concert. No one is claiming that JSS is a Perry clone. Sure, some of the chubbier BTalkers miss the disgraced Augeri, but Journey couldn't hide behind the Augeri deceit anymore. Moreover, maybe they shouldn't post as much and exercise more.

I haven't read one post about a recent Journey concert in which someone states they didn't have a good time because of JSS as the lead singer of Journey.

I can guarantee that Journey next album will not sound like Arrival, Red 13, or Generations.

Augeri's gone...Journey's credibility as a classic rock band is back with JSS as their lead singer.

Thanks,
Journeytroll

Hi Red13JoePa.

I'm not him or the other him.

Thanks,

I know you're not him, JT.

You say you're not the other him.

To paraphrase George Costanza, it's not a lie if YOU believe it.

Where you been?

Troll, I thought you were an advocate of Journey getting back with Perry?

Most intelligent Journey fans are advocates of Perry with Journey :) I mean come on now...That's when the band we all love had ALL of their success! This notion that commercial success and Journey doesn't care about getting on the charts is flat out idiotic! It's loyal fans deserve to see some more success for this great band. It's like a sports team you root for saying "to hell with it...we don't care if we ever win, as long as we just show up and pay our bills"! I'll never understand that mentality!

That said, even we Perry die-hards know Perry is never getting back together with Journey. I've actually NEVER for one second thought Perry would ever get back together with Journey and I still don't believe that. Perry has moved on and Journey has tried to move on. Even if the unthinkable happened and Perry re-joined Journey tomorrow, it would never be the same. We can't go back to 1983, no matter how much we'd like to! I think Perry is really the smart one in all of this. His legacy is firmly cemented is music history (in spite of jackasses like Monker who thinks the guy was irrelevant to the history of Journey!). Coming back to record any music for Perry is almost pointless, at this stage of his life. He is smart enough to understand he can never top what he's already done.

I think it's the opposite. Any intelligent Journey fan knows Perry's best days are waaaaay far back in the rearview. A young energetic Soto trumps an old, semi-retired Perry any day.

Plus, I meant Troll was pretty adamant that Perry was the only singer for Journey, period.

And, Troll, you've gotta bring back the classic Troll avatar...

Me either.
Certainly Opening Stempler has never raised ripples, not once said anything remotely controversial here that we would remember. I think I remember Andrew expressing similar sentiments of the bland, unremarkable utterings Joe's authored.

No argument from me there, NIG! We all know Perry's best days are way behind him. If Neal and Jonathan had to sing Journey's catalog of music night after night, they'd be sitting right next to Perry in the retirement home! Luckily for them, neither of them can sing well enough to get onto American Idol!

Troll, you crack me up dude. Seriously, on your "good" days, you are the funniest guy here. However, on "rainy" days, you flat out scare me.

Lucky I didn't save those emails you sent me warning me of my impending death in Boston. Yes, they were real death threats and I DID look over my shoulder..quite a bit. I was scared shitless.

Wouldn't it be funny to see (in that parallel universe) the 1 (chet) avatar turning around one day in horror to see that other iconic (JT) avatar there all set to make good on his menacing threats?

Top 3 all-time avatar on these pages, may have been #1 if he hadn't stopped using it.
I mean, it wrote the book on what the Chet/Dean thing did for avatar character becoming synonomous with poster..

I said the same thing last week,

Jeff will be 41 in November.
Those killer first to YingYang albums he sung on... he was 18 when he got that gig!
The main thing Jeff will bring to the table for this band is RESPECT from more 'insiders'.
Most folks entrenched in the music biz know Neal and even Jon as legendary songwriters/musicians.
Augeri never had much cred in that circle.
Jeff has gained (and much deservedly so) a huge following and amount of respect in the biz because of his vast catalogue of quality work.
He brings "more Street Cred" to this band...
And most folks don't realize just how old he is; he easily connects with the younger audience. That is another thing this band has not had in a long time - A frontman that connects equally with several different generations of fans.

There are so many positives right now that I'm going outa my mind wondering what could be in store for us
