Soto's Acceptance

PostPosted: Wed Oct 04, 2006 3:19 am

Well it looks as if a lot of people at other Journey sites are finally accepting what we have been saying all along - that Soto is the new and permanent lead singer.

There are a few that still hold on to a thread of hope for Augeri's return, but but I think it is a very thin thread.

With fans from other sites climbing aboard, I bet we can finally expect an annuncement after this tour.

I, for one, would love official closure. I think that is all that anyone wants - closure. Say the word and let's get on with music. It is human nature to put things to rest like this before we can REALLY go on enjoying the rest of the "stuff".

I also can't wait to quit reading "The official word from Journey is ..... and anything else is speculation....". Do they really believe that or are they just trying to piss others off by carrying that banner?????

If I was a violent man, I would want to kick someone's teeth out, so I guess it's working :x ...

I say shut down BT completely and make this forum, Drew's incredible forum, the Official Journey Message Board from here on out! And to make it even more exciting, Deano, Monker, TNC and HOTS can moderate...

Monker moderate, are you high? He has serious issues, however one of them is NOT dysphagia. HOTS would be the WORST ever moderator, TNC would be good, and my idea of moderating is NOT to moderate.

Yea, AFTER I posted that idea I thought of what would probably happen...
Dean wouldn't moderate and actually would DEMAND we get crazy on eachother.
Monker would close every thread that TNC is tearing up.
TNC would close every thread that Monker is tearing up.
And HOTS would close every thread that even remotely shows any negativity towards Perry...
Bad idea all around :)

Quite so, as if that were the case, I'd die of a stress related heart attack shortly thereafter.

I was thinking more along the lines of a vomit-induced choking incident, ala Spinal Tap.

I absolutely do not want to moderate a Journey forum or mailing list. Nope.

Not true. When I owned the Journey mailing list I gave fewer people vacations then Andrew. In fact, I never kicked ANYBODY off the list. I also tried to LEAD conversations in the direction I wanted, instead of telling people how to post.

And, moderating people who treat forums like they are newsgroups is the reason why.

Thank you, I was hoping you or TNC would say exactly that....

Just didn't expect it so quickly.

You just proved why you are a failed moderator. You want to CONTROL the topics to fit your quest, your agenda; Fuck off Dweeb.

The mailing list didn't fail.

It grew from 10 people in 1991 to over 300 when I dropped it. It now has as many people on it as BT, and probably MORE people then this forum

At the time I owned it, and the first few years after Dan took it over, it was probably the most active place for Journey conversation on the internet.

THIS is by far the BEST and most populace place for Journey news and talk, and YOU have had NOTHING to do with it.

300 active users? There are probably that many on the Kansas list that I subscribe to but most of those never post and probably never even read the messages. I know I don't read 95% of them and only post about every other month or so, if that.

Nope, I'm a 'failed moderator', cuz I like to get involved and be a pain in the ass.

A moderator can't be a pain in the ass to the people he moderates...he can only be a pain in the ass to a moderator. You should know that very well.

My 'agenda', as I have said many times, was to unite the conversations I saw on Prodigy, AOL and GEnie. In that sense, it wsa VERY successful. At that time, NOBODY on Prodigy could talk to people on AOL about Journey...with the mailing list, they could.

I bet a Kansas list didn't even exist in 1996, when I stopped moderating the Journey mailing list...There were no where NEAR as many people on the internet.

Funny thing is, it had more CONVERSATION on it at that time then it does now with close to a thousand people subscribed. All goes to show you what a moderator can do when he engages in conversation rather then simply telling others what to do.

To Dan's and Michelle's credit, they are bringing back that idea...and it's bringing back the conversation, too.

Doesn't bother me any....why does it bother YOU so much.

And, just because it's the most 'popular', doesn't mean it's the best. It depends on the poster and what that person wants out of it.

It's the PotSW (People of the South Wind) mailing list. I'm going to see if I can find out but I think it's been around for at least 8 or 9 years now, if not longer.

The bottom line is that the Journey mailing list has been around for about 15yrs...calling it a 'failure' is absolutely WRONG.

I'm pretty damn proud of the Journey mailing list. So, yeah, I'll take my share of the credit for that and it's success. Dan and his current and former moderators deserve credit too.

I'm not telling anybody they are 'shit'. I'm saying that it is was an undeniable success...as opposed to the 'failure' that was posted earlier.

1) This is the premier Journey forum, and just so happens to reside on a mountain of other melodic rock goodies. There is no other board, including home theatre boards that have as many talented people on it than this one does.

2) The Journey mailing list can be called nothing but a success.

Or "temporary" or "fill-in" regarding JSS.

Yes, I think they really do believe it, but with no official statement form the band I can almost not blame them.

Almost.

As the old saying goes: they are more to be pitied than laughed at (or something like that). Some of them will need serious help from a shrink when this comes down. How many pages long is the positive thoughts for Augeri thread now? And I think there are like 3-4 people keeping it going. Every morning they pray for him in the morning first thing. Then they do the same thing before they lay their head to rest at nite. (Yes sorry I've looked in there once in a while. It's funny!)

Wait. Is that really a rock band site? Or have we done the time warp back circa 1972 with teens worshipping David Cassidy & Donny Osmond in the latest edition of Tiger Beat?

What the hell does a mailing list have to do with Soto's acceptance?? Is there a poll being sent out?

I've accepted JSS as Journey's frontman, just as I had accepted Augeri. I am a Journey fan and Neal Schon is it!! I am confident that the new triad of song writers in Journey will produce music that will, at the least, bring a smile to my face. I have high hopes for the future of Journey 8)

Neal, Jeff, Jon, Ross, and Deen rock on!!
