WOOHOO!!!!
Image Image Image Image

Check THIS out: His opening statement....FTLOSM Remaster:

"For The Love Of Strange Medicine was my second solo project. The truth is... There was a project that I recorded before it which was to be my second solo CD to follow Street Talk. Due to a change over that took place when Sony Music bought Columbia Records, ALL the Against The Wall CD (as it was to be called) was shelved by a corporate executive and it was never released. This was the beginning of a serious rift between myself and Sony Music. The reason I was given by this executive was that he was not sure about the musical direction of the CD. I had NEVER heard any words like this before. Legally there was nothing I could do-Sony Music did not release it.

"If You Need Me, Call Me" was originally a demo which was recorded in 1977. This version was a re-recorded tribute to the band I was in before I joined Journey. This track and many more recordings were to by on my second solo CD.

SO.....I guess the bottom line is......

My second solo CD was to be called Against The Wall but now as bonus tracks, perhaps they all should be called.......

Better Late Than Never

Thanks for listening

Steve Perry"

Thanx, Larry 8)

My reviews:

"Can't Stop":

Never heard Steve have SO MUCH FUN doing a vocal track for a song!

Very adventurous; not staying on beat....rush-talking/singing thru the lyrics....portraying a real "Character" in this song....nice "cha cha" beat - sounds like "Cha cha meets Joe Perry" of all people. He sings about how a woman drives him so crazy that he "can't stop".

PS ~ Steve ~ I would be SO SLAMMIN' on those backing vocals....you go on tour; call me... 8)

"Friend Of Mine":

Nice "audio visual" - it starts out with ambient "Cocktail Party Crowd" noise....if this was a video, it would be a "pan shot" of a party until it lands on Steve and his Band....and Steve smirking and shaking his head at the whole thing.

Sounds like "Livin' on the Edge" - but at a slower, funkier tempo. With mic-ed harmonica. Very cool! 8)

Steve sings about wading thru the "hangers-on" until he finds his true "friends of mine"...

WHY WERE THESE LEFT OFF???

Thanx for the review....can;t wait to hear it for myself...

Are the musicians on the bonus tracks listed..?

I'm just curious cos I saw Jeff Porcaro's name listed in the credits....not sure if he played on any of the bonus tracks.

My bad....

They weren't "left off" of FTLOSM...

they were meant for his 2nd solo CD - AFTER "Street Talk", but BEFORE what is now FTLOSM - so that would make it "Against the Wall".

I am surprised to hear that Perry has/had a serious rift with Sony. Yet they were able to coerce him back to Journey and he still has a working relationship with them.

LFND: Against The Wall was being worked on with Nuno Bettencourt of Extreme...I think there might have been some guitar in the works.

That would have been cool. Nuno is an outstanding player. Unfortunately, he's also very...Um...Temperamental.
