Need help: VHS to DVD...

Ok, a lot of you folks seem pretty good at getting boots and working with audio/video stuff...

I have, on VHS (Not Hi-Fi), a copy of the late-night ROR Special that CBS aired when the ROR tour kicked off.
Not only does this show have some grat (and corny) interviews with the guys but it also has some great LIVE footage.
The stand-outs are BGTY and ROR... GREAT LIVE versions...

Anyone have the means of throwing this on DVD???

Carlitto,

I have it already on DVD. I have a VHS-DVD recorder that works great ! I paid alot of money for this unit, and I haven't been disappointed. Acutally, I have two units, the older one only uses DVD-R, and the newer one is a multi-format unit.

You can PM me if you would like me to make you a copy on DVD. I can do it tonite and have it out in the mail by tomorrow late afternoon :D

CRL - where did you find that unit? I have quite a lot of stuff on VHS I'd like to get on DVD. My friend had a DVD recorder, but it would only play on her machine not any other players. Really a drag. Does the multi-media unit allow you to play the DVDs on other machines?

Hi Ms_M!

Well, I bought both my units at Wal-Mart. The multi-format unit, my best one, cost well over $350.00 and it is from Panasonic. I do have to say don't buy any VHS-DVD recorder that is from Emerson. They break down really fast, and I wouldn't want anyone to waste money on that brand.

As for what is going on with your friend's dvd's, do you know what kind of unit it is and what type of blank dvd's it takes? Also, is your friend doing the finalization of the disc for playback on other machines?

Multi-media means that you can use either DVD+R or DVD-R for recording and playing. :D

I am not sure about her recorder. She got it several years ago when the DVD recorders first came out. I am thinking about getting one for myself - like I said, I have plenty of stuff - so that is good to know. I know what you mean about Emerson - if you don't mind a "disposable" product - not too bad.

Ok, and I just remembered something else too. The units that first came out would use DVD-R 4x discs, which are now being phased out. I am not sure if this has anything to do with it, but it is just a thought. I would have to see the unit to figure it out.

I have an Emerson 3 cd player, stereo that I have, and it isn't really that old, and already the cd part of it broke !

That's what I think it was. It was that DVD-R thing. She put my stuff on DVD and could watch it herself. I couldn't watch it on my player. Thanks for the info - that will come in handy when I get ready to make a purchase. :D

You would think, with all this footage they have from the ROR tour and all the NFL Films shit from the 'Frontiers and Beyond' video that we could expect Re-Mastered DVDs/Cds of these tours like the ESCAPE stuff! They would sell just as well, maybe more!
I know the band really wants to concentrate on moving forward but, FUCK, these 2 tours were so incredible - They are a must have!

You are so right!! I know they don't like bootleg videos or whatever, but if released "legitmately" people would buy them instead of bootlegging. Just my .02...

Any way we could get you to upload that to a megaupload type site :D :D :D :D

I know it would a major beast, but I just had to ask. I loved that tour, and have seen so little footage from it.

Anyway, I wish I had something you don't to swap, but I somehow doubt it.

pretty please! :D :D :D :D

(loved that monster KISS file, btw. they're growing on me a little.}
