I am sitting here with my Journey collection on shuffle and
"Never Too Late" comes on...
Now, for some reason, I haven't really listened that far into Generations a lot to hear this one a lot
but HOLY SHIT!!!
This is one KILLER tune!
Deen sounds amazing, great arrangements, Neal is SHREDDING...
This song should DEFINITELY become a concert staple!
Any thoughts?

I love that tune. One of the best on the entire CD. Would love to Deen sing that one live.

On Generations I liked Never Too Late, Faith, TPIYH, and Better Life. The rest of it, I didn't care for all that much. Mostly fast forward material other than those 4 for me.

Exact same for me.
I liked Never too Late and Better Life first time I heard them.

Better Life, sounds a little like Hazard by Richard Marx. I like the track, it just reminds me of it.

I like all the tracks you listed except TPIYH but I also dig OOHW...
Sentimental reasons, I guess

NTL sounds dated to me, like it belongs in the '80's. Can't get into it very much.

I love "Hazard". Great tune.
Anyway, "Never Too Late" is a great song, my second favorite on "Generations" after "Faith in the Heartland".

Mmm
Second best Deen fronted track on the record. I say that knowing our fine, LA-bound host had it ranked as I think one of the top 25 overall tracks of 2005.
Not saying I dislike it, still a very good tune but ABL is super cool.

I feel the same way NIG, never liked that one much. Sounds very '80's and very very dated.

To me "Never Too Late" has that vintage 80's Journey sound to it, the closest the band has been able to get to since the reunion with Perry. Easily my fav of the Post-Perry Journey.
Other songs I like off Generations in no order:
Faith in the Heartland
A Better Life
Every Generation (though it doesn't sound all that good live)
Knowing that You Love Me (IMO the best Augeri ballad)
Gone Crazy (I loved the idea that they tried something different and the drumming

)
Beyond the Clouds
To a lesser extent
The Place In Your Heart
Out of Harms Way
In Self Defense (Why re-record an old song?)
Better Together
Just Pure Crap:
Believe
Butterfly
Pride Of The Family

Add me to that list.
Then again, I don't think Believe is that bad, soooo...

Is Pride of the Family really as bad as Believe and Butterfly??? Who sings it, I dont have that release so Ive never heard it. I do agree that Believe and Butterfly suck, although when I saw the writing credits I expected them to...

I actually kinda like "Believe" and "Butterfly (She Flies Alone)". They're not my favorite songs, but they aren't as bad as several other tunes I could name. Anyway, "Pride of the Family" isn't a bad song but it just doesn't sound at all like Journey.

Cain sings it and I believe he wrote it also. I just didn't care for it.

I know exactly what NIG and Cubby are saying, but aren't the best modern Journey songs still reminscent of the 80's?
"Place in Your Heart" and "Higher Place" don't exactly sound modern to me guys.

I want stuff to sound like the 80's. Could care less if something is dated. Hell half the Journey catalog is "cheesy" truth be told.

Never Too Late is good, but I also like Better Together!
