Twenty Year...

Sorry for blowing up the board last weekend, but now I am getting warm and fuzzy thinking back to 10/14/86. It was the first time I saw Journey live. The Philadelphia Spectrum rocked that night, and I had no idea that it would be the last time I’d see Perry, Schon, and Cain together. Never had the chance to see that Frontiers tour, although my friends went to the JFK stadium show in ’83 that ended up on video. Anyone here see that concert?

I wish I remembered the 86 Journey show more....I indulged in some stuff that killed that notion. I do remember Perry being friggin great that night.

I saw the ROR tour at Capitol Centre in Landover, MD. My feelings on that CD are well known. Felt the same way about the show. Great seeing Journey (or 3/5 of them) but it sure was different than footage I had seen of the E5C4P3 and Frontiers tours.

My first show was 10/26/86 in The Meadowland, NJ I believe a day better know as " Bill Buckner Day' the day the ball went through his legs! My seat SUCKED way up top but the place was sold out I think they did 3 days in the meadowlands. I just remember saying why are they playing Perry solo stuff and Jailhouse Rock ???? But it was a great first concert. Glad I have been able to see them 6 more times and the Perry solo tour. Soon too be 7 on 11/7......
What really sucked was 86 was way before the internet age an i know that I was curious why only 3/5 of the band was touring and what was going on in the bands camps...withe perry and the guys Too me it seemed that they just fell of the face of the earthfor all those years. Then one day in 96 I hear WYLAW on the radio and they announce the album release and I was curious as too what was going on. Then no news of a tour or anything and no way too get this info. Then one day in 98 I see this dic for Armagedon and see Journey with Steve Augeri and Im like WTF????? The next day I see the concert ad in the paper and I rush too buy tickects. So for me it was hard to foloow the time line of events and what was going on with all the band members. I knew about Bad English, The Storm and they did some work with Michael Bolton I believe NS< JC, Randy jackson and Steve Smith if Im not mistaken. SS worked with Mareah Carey I think too. Anyway....thank god for the internet !!!!! We have so much more info on the band and I think its great.. make you feel like you were in the dark back in the day.

i was 11 years old ,, LOVED that first van halen,, we got my friends older brother to take us , i picked up an Infinity shirt, was blue with white spots on it, looked like clouds,, i think the ticket was $4.95, 1 lawn mowing jobs worth, 11 year olds listen to rap now , and you wouldnt let them out of your site for 30 seconds in the mall,,, at 11,, i OWNED TG&Y and walked all over town ....

NOthing more true than that !!! The music of today SUCKS only a few bands I listen too, but do they even have staying power. This web site is a classic example. All the bands that people talk about here have been around for a long time and we all grew up with this music and was played in most of our high school years... This board will have no bands too talk about 10-20 years too come. The shit they are putting out for the most part as music today is just that shit. With only a few bright spots. Down here in Ft lauderdale we have a horse racing track and they have had concerts on sat and sun and the band are always 70 -80 era bands mostly, 3 dog Night, Mick Thomas, Cyndi Lauper etc and they would always have one bigger band ususally REO. Cheap trick and they even had STYX one time. me and my wife have always said what bands are going too be making this "State Fair" circut in 10 years. Cant think of too many. I think rock-n-roll as We know it is in a sad state Thats whay all these bands are thriving right now the adults that grew up with these bands now have a bit more $$$ too support them. I know I do and try too go too as many concerts for all the classic rock bands as I could, because in the end its all good music..and you cna understand the lyrics !!!

Love the one lawn ower job comment !!!!

I was at the first ROR concert in Angels Camp. That show was my ex-husband's first and last concert by Journey, but it was about my 5th or 6th concert I saw during the 80's. Most of the concerts I went to was the Days On The Green shows, but I did see one show in the indoor arena at the Oakland Coliseum. That one had Gregg Rolie with them, and the Babys opened up for them.

What I didn't know about the Angels Camp concert was that they were filming the show. It was hard enough to navigate the traffic and the crowds, so I didn't see the signs saying that they were filming the show.
:D
