Edge Of The Blade (Manchester UK)

Ok...We all know the scandal on this infamous bootleg...but that's not what this is about.
I was listening to this and the guitar solos are AMAZING on this version. I've heard one better and that was the Philly '83 end solo and the Manchester version is rivaling even that. Neal really IS a guitar god. :-)

If this were actually live, it'd prolly be one of their all-time best performances.
However, Augeri has NEVER sang this good...not even on his best day.

Augeri hitting the Escape-era highs on "Keep on Running" "Dead or Alive" is similarly a farce.

Want to hear Augeri?
Listen to the Manchester "Faithfully" where the tape gives out at 1 minute or so into the song.
Or listen to "Out of Harms Way" - Deen covers the tail-end high notes and Augeri sings a few scattered portions here and there.

Kevin Elson thinks we are all a bunch of stone-deaf fucks.

I know. That's why the vocals were NOT brought up.
I think Augeri's "day in the sun" so to speak was 98-02....after that it got to be a "going through the motions" tour and THEN the scandal....well...you know the rest.
But the guitar in Manchester was unfuckingbelievable. :-)

I was right hand side balcony half way down. Bit crap for atmosphere, but pretty good to see the whole stage and lighting etc. Even though it was pretty sparce.
I actually just got a DVD from a friend with 30 mins or so he recorded at the gig but not watched it yet.

I was there too - front row centre. What amazes me about Neal is that he makes this incredible sound but it all seems so effortless.

By the way, in case you haven't heard, an extra date has been added to the shows in the UK in March - 7th March at the Manchester Apollo. Tickets go on sale this morning (Thursday).
