Should Andrew....

reopen the Perry board? Seems to me that the Journey board is becoming polarized again. Haters and loons are starting to take away from Journey's momentum. At a time when the BAND should be the focus, we're detracting by constantly talking about one ex-member. I think we could throw out a lot of the trashy threads and replies (myself included at times   ) if he reopened the Perry forum. Hell, 80% of the other forums aren't even used. Any thoughts?

No. The goons will just go there and the loons will still come here. It would just be more to moderate.

I reckon it's a bad idea, Saint John. Perry's contribution to the band was so immense and it's right that we have discussions about him on a Journey board. The careers of Perry and Journey are inseparable - even to this day - and it's hardly worth creating a forum to discuss "Street Talk" and "FTLOSM".

Also - I think the current line-up receives plenty of support, attention and constructive criticism on this board.

Perry will always cast a huge shadow over the band until they succeed without him. But even if Journey release an outstanding album with JSS there will still be fans who want to argue about the classic era of the band.

And this is understandable. Journey have been going for thirty years so there's a lot of history to discuss - even if the arguments can get repetitive and irrational.

It doesn't work the way it logically should St John. I doesn't even work the way some profess to want it to work. Andrew experimented with it and it had predictably disastrous results. The problems are that some of the goons who complain about the loons being on here really want us here to keep the action going and some of the Perry fans really want to be here to participate in that action. The thing is, we're really all Journey fans who like them for different reasons depending on what aspect of the band appeals to us the most. It's primarily divided along gender lines but there are exceptions. I think it's that gender division that makes the Perry threads seem too "syrupy" for the tastes of most of the goons. Women just basically as a rule express themselves differently than men do.

It goes back to what Matthew said. Perry and Journey are just inseparable in the hearts and minds of a great many of the fans.
