Just give them some time, and let them fulfill some obligations. I am pretty sure you will get your wish.

No; I'm being a "realist":

I saw that thing on YouTube w/ Neal and JSS...and hey....if that's the way it's gonna go, then WHY can't JOURNEY - with their new Lead Singer - make NEW MUSIC?

that's all I'm asking....

Oh, and by the way...I'm talking about a LEAD SINGER here...someone who can HANDLE the job.

No...I'm saying that if Journey is moving on - with JSS, who is capable of handling the job - why can't they record new music?

Steve Perry has decided to not move on with Journey...I accept that; I'm just saying that JSS is there so, what's the problem?

Perhaps the question should be directed at your "god" Steve Perry instead? Oh that's right, he just put out a new reissue

And just what the hell is YOUR problem?

I just said that Journey was moving on...without Steve Perry, and I accepted it.

Nora,

They have a tour to finish, then some holiday time off with family. After that, who knows what will go on with Journey. You have to have some patience here, please. :D

I seem to recall a competing idea, that Journey, technically shouldn't have to make new music, because the fans that still come to shows only want to hear the 'dirty dozen', not new music...That for one is complete b.s., IMHO, even if the Journey Concert buying public only wants to hear Open Arms, and Faithfully (both of which Dean Castronovo can do better than Perry today), a band should not be devoid of the need and natrual desire to create new music, unless they have lost all of their 'talent' and are simply in it for the money... That I don't buy, especially with a group this talented (but unfortunately under less than passionate management...) Pending no natural disasters in the world, or another member being 'replaced', it's inevitable they will record, and we will hear some new music. And I'm sure I'll enjoy the bulk of the album..I will say that the boots I have heard, one in particular a Soundboard, with JSS, did not impress me much (Though Dead or Alive sounded particularlygood). I think this new lineup will take the band in a new direction. I hope not quite Soul Sirkus, definitely Journey though...We shall see

Anyway, yeah everyone, onto new material, bring it, test out track live. Why not?

- Brandon

That "reissue" will outsell anything you, Journey, and JSS have....but it's not about that...right?

Ummm...He JUST joined the band. Have they had time to record new music yet? No. They are still on tour. Most bands do not put out new music while they are on tour unless it was previously recorded.

Come on Nora. U expect them to interrupt the already scheduled tour to go in the studio & record more music? Can u give them a chance. Jeff joined in July. It's October. Give them a break already before u expect something new. Are u this impatient w/ur husband :-)

N,
you okay girl, this thread ain't like you......I 'm happy listening to other stuff right now, try Razorlight that's where the good shit is hapenning. As for D, fuck him, he either ignores or outright attacks...still listening to 11th, fantastic N. They'll release a new album Spring of next year, that' so fuckin'obvious...test it in Europe first

OK...I very obviously "shot first & asked questions later"...

I just kept reading about the "Dirty Dozen" and how people heard all of those a ton of times; where's the new stuff, etc.

I wrote this thread in a moment of frustration....

They're all outrageously talented; they have JSS.....

Where's the backing?

Please....they have to counteract all the $#!T that's out there...while they still can...

That's all I meant.

Yes, I know they're on tour....I meant when they get off the road...sometime next year.

Styxman, I hope you're right.

Patience Nora, patience. The LAST thing we want is a rushed album. JSS brings a lot to the table. All of Journey's epic albums took time to create. Look what happened when they rushed Red 13 and Generations...we got shit....muddled vocals, shitty sound and really some music that while good instrumentally, was just not cohesive. Neal was completely NOT on board for Generations and it showed. Again, his playing WAS excellent, but the songs lacked chemistry. JSS WILL bring that back. But it takes time. Let them finish the tour, get some MUCH needed rest and THEN come back rejuvenated and ready to write and record. THEN we'll get a great Journey album. Not one created on the back of a bus in the midst of a tour.

Nora,

I wholeheartedly agree with you. I think they should get into the stuido after this tour and sometime early next year.

Here's the problem though (at least as I see it): until the band actually announces that either Steve A. is gone and JSS is the permanent replacement for him, they really can't come out and make any announcements about "We're going into the studio to work on a brand new CD!"

So, if Steve A is out and JSS is the permanent replacement, then the band probably needs to state that so they can move onto their next chapter, which hopefully involves new music AND playing it in concert.

The fact that they have not made an official announcement about Steve A. has put them in a bit of a precarious position regarding any future new music.

Umm..or they could just continue to pretend that we're retarded :D That we can barely manage to feed ourselves. Yeah, I think they'll just pretend nothing ever happened and stuff

& I wonder, could some legal stuff be tying up the announcement of Augeri's official departure? Steveforever suggested this yesterday. It's a thought.

Would not be at all surprised to find that this was the case. I'm sure there was/is a lot of legal wrangling going on behind the scenes. We'll never know about it, and frankly I don't want to know. Once it gets dealt with, I'm sure the band will be able to move ahead with new music and publically announce it.

If I recall correctly, somebody here quoted Herbie Herbert as saying that he would manage a Journey that had JSS in it. If this is correct and true, that should be the first thing they do when they get off the road. Re-hire Herbie and get into the studio (Analog style as someone mentioned in another thread) and create a solid CD. Then let Herbie work his magic.
