No, it's not priceless, what the Republicans are doing is dangerously irresponsible.
Kerry was already in the process of delivering an anti-Bush monologue when he flubbed the line.
He meant to say "if you aren’t smart, if you’re intellectually lazy? You end up getting us stuck in a war in Iraq.”
The mainstream so-called "liberal" media have ripped his one barb TOTALLY out of context.

Naturally, the morally bankrupt GOP is having a field day with it and unquestioning myrmidons like yourself are lapping it up like the family dog.

Kerry disrespected our soldiers once again - the same as when he said that the Vietman vets "...raped, pillaged, cut off limbs...". Track record, folks - straight from his own mouth.

Even tree-huggers like Hillary Clinton and Congressman Harold Ford (and other Dems) called Kerry's statement yesterday "innapropriate".

October suprise, courtesy of John "Lurch" Kerry!

Because Kerry's people released the script to the press, and moreover, I don't have the attention span of a toadstool and actually sat down and watched the entire speech.
He was cracking jokes at Bush's expense. It was all about Bush. It makes absolutely no sense for him to do a 180 turn around and start attacking the troops.
As Kerry said, “If anyone thinks a veteran would criticize the more than 140,000 heroes serving in Iraq and not the president who got us stuck there, they're crazy."

Too funny.
This is exactly what Kerry predicted would happen today:

"I’m not going to be lectured by ....doughy Rush Limbaugh, who no doubt today will take a break from belittling Michael J. Fox’s Parkinson’s disease to start lying about me just as they have lied about Iraq. It disgusts me that these Republican hacks, who have never worn the uniform of our country lie and distort so blatantly and carelessly about those who have."

Well, if that's what was scripted why on earth would he deviate from it and intentionally make a remark that could be misconstrued? It's not like he doesn't know how things said by politicians get twisted and turned.

I take it you've never watched a George W. Bush stump speech or press conference?
You do realize that politicians flub lines on a daily basis, right?
They are only human.

Why didn't these Dubya hall-of-famers similarly raise ur ire?

"It's in our country's interests to find those who would do harm to us and get them out of harm's way."

"Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we."

I saw the entire speech and that quote in context. Considering Kerry's history of anti-military statements and actions, I have no doubt he meant exactly what is being portrayed in the media. He accused our troops in Vietnam of all kinds of atrocities (the vets he claimed told him of this flatly deny such claims). He disgraced the uniform by throwing his purple hearts away (then claiming that he didn't throw them away but still having them). Then he claimed U.S. troops were going into the homes of Iraqis in the "dead of night", terrorizing women and children. Now this. I'm willing to give Democrats a chance to prove themselves but Kerry is the biggest joke in the Socialist party that there is right now.

Speaking of Kerry, this is one of my favorite pics from the 2004 election season...

I've watched plenty of political speeches, thank you very much. Who said my ire was raised?

As far as Bush, the widely accepted reason for his flubs is that he's an idiot. What's Kerry's excuse?

Not to get into a political war here, but Kerry’s people could have said “Oh crap, how can we spin this to make it look like he MEANT to say “----------------------------“. I can see the damage control creating something to LOOK like it should have been one way or the other, even if Kerry MEANT what he said.

That was the thought that hit me when I read what the joke was SUPPOSED to be. It just doesn’t seem like that is the total truth. I think he just got caught saying the wrong thing.

Bush has had his share of “doosies” as well, so it falls on both parties. Dems and Repubs are equally stupid sometimes.

Kerry just apologized. Not sure why he is apologizing if he didnt really mean what he said.

(cnn.com)

Sen. John Kerry issued a statement Wednesday apologizing to "any service member, family member, or American who was offended" by his comments to college students about getting "stuck in Iraq".

Yesterday he boldly refused to apologize.

Oh, I forgot, he IS "Mr. Flip-Flop".

Look at his facial expression when he "flubbed a joke".
He was not smiling at all, he was very serious in what he was saying, just as he was when he accused the Vietman vets of being war criminals.

I imagine he is apologizing because so many GOPers are calling for him to do so.... it is a matter of days before a big election, maybe he's taking one for the team.

Than you either A) own a TV with a broken sound knob or B) are bold face lying.
No way anyone watches that and comes away with the impression he is attacking the troops.

He accused our troops in Vietnam of all kinds of atrocities (the vets he claimed told him of this flatly deny such claims). He disgraced the uniform by throwing his purple hearts away (then claiming that he didn't throw them away but still having them).

You're distorting his words.
He said;
"there is no reason ... that young American soldiers need to be going into the homes of Iraqis in the dead of night, terrorizing kids and children, you know, women, breaking sort of the customs of the -- of -- the historical customs, religious customs. ... Iraqis should be doing that."

Go recieve new marching orders from Propaganda Minister, Hannity.
I'll await ur return.

Why don't you post what he said in full?
What are you trying to hide?

Since you've appointed yourself as a surrogate hatchet man for this stinking corrupt Bush regime, let me inject some honesty in here.
Here is what Kerry said today:

"I sincerely regret that my words were misinterpreted to wrongly imply anything negative about those in uniform, and I personally apologize to any service member, family member, or American who was offended."

"Of course, I'm sorry about a botched joke, everybody knows I botched a joke."

Wally_Hatchet wrote:Yesterday he boldly refused to apologize.

True conservatives know Bush has flip-flopped equally, if not more than Kerry.
I thought Bush said he was gonna leave Queer-marriages up to individual states.
Now he wants a constitutional amendment barring them.
This shit goes on and on and ideological fools like you only gunk up the political process.

You may be right. bUT Dems are calling for an apology too, not just GOP.

I guess "taking one for the team" wins over his personal integrity that he so boldly defended yesterday. But I must ask again, why did he apologize when he said nothing wrong?

HEY JOHN , WHY THE LONG FACE?

It has everything to do with establishing that the guy has a track record of trashing the military.

You're distorting his words.

He fumbled over his words because he knew what he said made it sound like our troops were being terrorists. I'll give you this one, but I'm not convinced that he didn't mean exactly that.

Go recieve new marching orders from Propaganda Minister, Hannity.

I don't listen to Hannity much anymore. The guy is repetitive to the point of madness and can't seemingly disembark himself from the Republican talking points on most issues.

Carville is a chrome-domed liberal automaton. Pennsylvania's a great state, aside from the liberal spewage that comes out of the Philadelphia area. Some of the nicest people I've met in my entire life come from there.

I was also educated in New York, so I may not be as red state-ish as you think.

I don't have to extricate myself from anything.
Kerry's monologue was ripping on Bush. That is FACT.
It makes absolutely no sense for a veteran politician with '08 aspirations to pull a 180 and start unleashing on soliders while campaigning for a colleague to get elected.

If you fail to comprehend that than you are not Conservative or a Republican, but a zombified zealot cut from the same ideological cloth as Osama Bin Laden.
I think I hear the 'call for prayer' far off in the East.
