Ok, here goes. Cannot remember the setlist exactly, but it was comparable to most the others, except we were treated to MOL, Edge Of The Blade, Chain Reaction, and IBAWY almost back to back to back. I cannot say enough about how much Jeff has improved since July when I saw them last. He wasn't bad then, but he seemed at that time to be getting his niche on the songs. He even mentioned at that time he needed a break. He does not need a break now. He sang that setlist almost without effort. Last night he showed me and my wife he HAS to be the new lead singer for this band. He is a constant ball of energy, and at times you could close your eyes and be in 1983 all over again. I wore a yellow tropical shirt I bought in Jamaica when my wife and I were married, and twice I was swinging it in the air trying to get Jeff's attention (6th row on the side. Neal's side of the stage). Well, first time he pointed at us, and second time took a knee, pointed and winked. Needless to say that made my night, and my wife kept talking about the smile on my face. Somtimes when your there you feel you know these guys, even though that is the closest I have ever been to him. I could write about his voice and showmanship all day, but will simply say VERY IMPRESSIVE. The acoustics in the Colonial Center are excellent. The reports I have read about the band having fun. I can assure you they were true. Those guys, at their age, rocked for 80 or 90 minutes, non-stop. Truly unbelievable show. The crowd really got into Deen on his songs as well. Dude has some pipes, and can sing and play drums effortlessly.
Now for Def Leppard. When I saw them in Charlotte in July, they were nothing more than noise and distortion where we were sitting. Sometimes could not even tell what some songs were when they started. Last night they brought their A game as well. Clear music and vocals. They are a ball of energy as well. I cannot help having some bad feelings toward Joe for treating Andrew the way he has, but whatever. I have to be honest and give em their dues. They were excellent last night. Same setlist as July I think. Opened with Do You Wanna Get Rocked, and Love Bites and PSSOM were the closers.
I won't lie, this was a DL crowd last night. Took quite a well for the place to start filling up. Jon and Ross came out with Stoll Vaughn for his last song or two. Jeff really knows how to get the crowd into it however. He is all over the damn place. On both sides of the stage, the drum riser, everywhere. I saw Ross and his damn squirt baby in full blast last night. We rode around a little after the show trying to find the buses. Was gonna try to have a drink with them before they left, but to no avail. Doesn't matter. That was bar none the best show I have ever attended. Period. I would like to know where they stayed here, beings I am pretty sure Columbia has no 5 star hotels here. I think 4 is the best. I asked my wife, who is a much more casual Journey fan than myself, who she thought was better. Augeri or Soto. She has gone with me to several Augeri led Journey concerts. Her response. "No comparison. Jeff is really good". I love football, so I am going to make a comparison here. Journey with Augeri seemed like a good team without any direction. They made all the shows, did a good job, but just didn't have any LEADERSHIP. Jeff seems like the team captain, and this band as a result has kicked it up about 10 notches, and are kicking ass. I sincerely hope there is a new Soto lead album in our near future. I would LOVE to see the songwriting of Soto, Cain and Schon. Will be a winner. I guarantee it. As for pics and boots. I think my brother in law took some pics with his cell phone, and sorry did not get any boots. I had heard the security at the Colonial Center was pretty tough, but it was almost non-existent. Had I known I would have got lots of pics and and hopefully audio as well. Maybe next time. If you guys get a chance, hit this show. You will not regret it. Promise. Thank you Journey for coming back to Columbia and giving us an evening to remember (Have not been to Columbia since 86).

First of all, met Jeremey and his band, chatted with them for a few minutes..his wife, Sabrina is really nice...
Well, here goes...crowd on their feet from the first second the band came on stage and they never sat down...Jon smiled the entire time...never saw that before and he made eye contact with the crowd and nodded to them often. and waved a lot...Neal was awesome as usual..OH WHAT IS WITH THE PURPLE SWEATY SHIRT? Ross is always good with the crowd but seemed more into it tonite, talking to fans and water squirting and funny faces as usual....DEEN, what vocals, sang Open Arms and Faithfully...shit no Mother Father...and drumming of course was excellent...Now to JSS..He stole the whole show, which is what a frontman should be doing....IMO , his vocals were fantastic, awesome, and any other words u want to use....He was all over the stage and boy can he move, very sexy and very heartfelt on the ballands...O ,CAN HE ROCK, I could watch him all day....As u all know I adore SP, but I don't miss him anymore(never thought I would say that)...My band is back with more energy than ever and HAPPY...LAST YEAR they looked like they were just going through the motions..seats were great and could see all the sweat and Jeff close up, hmmmmmmmmmmmm
If there is a person on here who complains or whines or says anything derrogatory about Jeff, they need to shut up UNLESS they have seen him person..those boots on the internet do not do him justice...his vocals and range are amazing...I was shocked! From seeing the boots I really didn't know what to expect, but people you need to see Journey live...It feels like 1980's again...It really does and the dirty dozen are even fun to listen too. and have fresh sound..HOWEVER new music with Jeff at the helm will truly be amazing b/c he can make them his own and with Neal and Jon behind him, O there will be magic again...
Now for hubby, he thinks Deen has the best vocals in the band...loved the show and thought it was too short...however I hate to admit this (now don't throw stones) he thinks Steve Perry still has the best voice... SP will always be our favorite but looking forward to a new and exciting future for Journey with Jeff..
They need to be the headliner for sure.
We stayed for 2 def leppard songs, but had to leave b/c u couldn't any vocals at all and music was way to loud, besides we are not fans of their music....all in all had a great time...any questions please just ask..Carol
PS this morning I made hubby sit down and watch 2001 DVD from Las Vegas and then the Journey GH DVD and then Mother-Father boot of Deen so that he could have a good comparison even tho' we did see SA last June 05 but really his voice wasn't that good then...
