I don't see any reason why they should when they now have Jeff. If ur a real Journey fan, u have to give them a chance w/Jeff. The majority of 70s/80s acts can't make hits today. A small percentage do. But those are the ones that never went away. Journey went away right at the top of their game. That's what hurt them most in terms of viability today IMHO.

Some fans won't ever face that. Some will never accept anyone but Perry as the frontman. But some will let the journey continue. That's the real reality.

Are you 2 the only ones left in the world who don't know the state of Perry's voice? Could you not hear it when he merely spoke on the Behind The Music episode? Well then, could you not hear it on the last few albums he's done including Trial By Fire which took eons to complete the vocals? How about the bowing out of touring for TBF because of a bad hip....from what I recall, you sing with your throat, not your hip!

There are FAR too many reasons, facts, whatever you wanna call em on why the guy has not done anything besides sing the lower backing vocals on a tune he penned with David Pack....wake up & smell the fine print, he aint coming back cuz he can't come back, not doing THAT material you boasted about, the hits! It's all sadly beyond his range, anybody with ears can tell. To think, the last recordings where he is rough & struggling with his range was 10 years ago...you think it's healed & gotten higher for a man that is almost 58?

Now before you think I am a Perry basher, guess again, the guys IS Journey for me, for life...Journey's hits, Journey's legacy, Journey's sound....until someone does his own take successfully, we all know it will never happen but to say they should hang it up because they'll never have their originating force involved is completely blasphemous....to say JSS or anyone else can't help keep the music alive & fans happy to relive the memories is dumb...to waste endless thoughts on begging for his return even for a reunion tour is ludicrous, it aint gonna happen, not unless someone has come up with throat replacement surgery...in which case Augeri is also on that waiting list.

"Anyway" was written long before TBF. More bridges were burned during that time. The song wasn't exactly about how he misses Journey. It was more about his own troubles coming to terms w/it & yes, how he wished to say sorry. But then TBF happened & things changed again. Don't discount that period of time.

Sure, no one knows Perry's intentions, but himself. But he has said publicly many many many times that he is NOT going back to Journey. What more do u need?

No - he probably couldn't pull off an extensive Journey nostalgia tour. But I reckon he could record a new album even if it did take a hundred takes. He won't of course...but that's not to say he couldn't.

Well, it's possibly ungenerous to those fans who enjoy Journey's post-Perry career...but it's hardly "blasphemous".

Didn't Steve say in the Mitch Lafon(sp?) interview last year that for his part the split with Journey was permanent? I could be wrong but I think he did.

I'll have a go at this w/my opinions. Steve Perry doesn't want to rejoin Journey. He's said it too many times for it not to be true. I think too many bridges were burned & he will never go back. Sad, but I think it's a fact. We may never know the real reasons, or maybe someday he'll tell us why. Who knows, it might even be soon, like in the Uncle Joe interview, or maybe not. Maybe he'll write a book & fill us in. Or maybe he'll go to his grave w/his secrets.

A lot of fans who wouldn't REALLY want Steve to return to Journey. If he returned, he would not go on tour year after year after year, city after city. Why would he want to do that at his age, in his position? If he toured, it'd be one tour, a few cities. I think this is the case whether he returned to Journey (which he won't anyway so I'm just speculating) or tours in support of his own new music. Continuing my speculation, if he returned to Journey, the band would be done after that one mini-tour. They could not go on w/any other singer. Let's face it. The fans would never accept that. So, it would be the end of Journey for all of us. I don't think the majority of fans want that, even for the satisfaction of one more go-round w/the great man himself. Some do, but most don't. It's been a long time since Steve left/was forced out.

I could be wrong, but I don't think Neal is ready for that either. He likes to play. He's been playing since he was 15. His side projects haven't had much success. He appears to love to play to live audiences & I think he has some good yrs left. Journey gives him that opportunity. I don't know if anything else he did would. He's better than he's been in years right now. & he's got Jeff as frontman & that will guarantee several more years to do this.

I dunno about Ross & Jon & what they want. Deen, I'm sure could go drum for anyone & he's still young. But that's my take. Right or wrong.

There are two reasons that I don't want Steve back in Journey. First of all, I think there are too many fans who would expect him have the same voice he had in the early '80s, which isn't possible, and they wouldn't give the rich, soulfulness of his mature voice a fair chance. Even if he was on better personal terms with the band I think that would make him hesitant to tour. Secondly, I think all the bad feelings between them would end up making them all miserable. That's not good for the any of the guys or the band as a whole.

It seems like Perry would need to do his own thing, his own way. Touring all the time as a rock singer is not what he can do, or sounds like he wants to do.

REALITY IS...........................The Steve Perry Years.........................so far. Since they went on without him, they have just been paying tribute to those years..................so far. Reality ends there....................so far.

The reality is that they already had their commercial success. Their genre of music is not selling like the crap that is popular today. Even the 1982 version of Perry coming back would not change this.

If Perry can sing on at least the level he displayed on the FTLOSM tour, I think it could work. They would have to lower the keys to some of the songs, but it wouldn't sound bad.

As far as being commercially relevant, Journey most likely wouldn't be so even with Perry back in the band. They did okay with TBF in '96, selling over a million copies of that album, but even "When You Love a Woman", regardless of the fact that it was nominated for a Grammy, was still only on the AC charts, not the mainstream pop charts, if I remember correctly.

Besides that, I am interested in hearing what Journey will come out with if JSS remains in the band past this current tour. I love the songs that Neal and he have collaborated on in the past, especially "Believe in Me" and am interested to see if they can come up with something similar as Journey.

Is someone paying you to say this? Steve Perry's fan base will be measured when he releases anything new, even if it is just him reading the bylaws of the neighborhood association. Any new ablums nowadays for a majority of these bands, are merely to supplement their income, not sustain it like the old days.

Or maybe he's just trying to relive some of the fun he had as a process of letting go. & as a way to stay in the mind of the fans in case he decides to do something of his own.

I still think about & sometimes talk about some significant ex-bfs in my life & former friends & jobs. They may be gone & not something I'm going back to, but they're still a part of me & contributed to who I am today.
