My review= Journey was fantastic last night!!! I'll start with the beginning. Some guy came out to introduce a singer before Journey and on stage was Deen and his drum tech sitting at a little kid table on little kid chair's playing Go Fish ( kiddy card game ). Don't know why they were doing it except for laugh's...it was very funny!! Then the singer came out ( sorry, don't remember his name but he has a cd out called " Love Like A Mule"! haha!!) He played acoustic guitar and reminded me a little of Springstein in sound and style. JC came out and played harmonica on a couple of song's...sounded great! Then Journey came on. Neal started the night with SSB, of course. He threw in some new little chord's and change's here and there on SSB and other song's all night....keeping it fresh. Even after a long tour he just raise's his game and play's with enthusiasm. Neal is like a fine wine...he just get's better with age. Incredible guitarist! Then JSS came out and commanded the stage! He looked great, had tremendous energy, used the whole stage, has some great dance move's and engages the audience. Most importantly was how great he sounded! When I saw him in Tampa he had just joined and I gave that show a bad review because I thought he sounded rough, not comfortable with the material, and not finding his groove in the band, yet. Last night there was no sign of discomfort. Jeff sang the song's like they were his own. He was very relaxed and has found his " groove" in the band. He was in fantastic voice and sounded just as good as his solo and other band work. The whole band seem to have really jelled together and it show's. Everyone was relaxed and having fun. Ross made his funny face's to the crowd. Incredibly Jon played piano better then I've ever heard him play. Dean sounded just a tiny bit hoarse in the start but quickly fell into it and sounded great! Sorry I can't remember the whole setlist and order but the highlight of the evening for me was when they did Message Of Love!! It was great to hear. The crowd was a mix of age range...half standing, half sitting, but all seemed to enjoy Journey. A few did go for beer during EOTB and CR. Light's, Open Arms, and DSB got the biggest responses, of course. Now on to DL.....don't have much to say...I only stayed for the first 5 song's. When they got to a Yeah song it was time to leave! Haha!! Couldn't get into it and had a long drive home. The crowd had gotten too drunk and obnxious by then. Too many people going to the bathrooms!!! Even in the hallway's the smell was horrible!! Haha!!....Anyway, Journey was FANTASTIC!!! If you haven't seen them this tour, try and go if you can. JSS has really fit into the band and he's doing the song's justice! He's in great voice!!.... Just wish it was a Journey only tour and that they played longer!!!........ :D 8) :D

The opener is Stohl Vaughn (not sure if I spelled that right). Funny you say he sounds like Springsteen, that's what we thought first time we heard him in Tampa also.

:)

great review! did Deen do a mini drum solo at the end of wheel... Damn Deen can power drum like no other.. I have really been enjoying watching him drum on the tour... Did Neal actually move during the show this time? yes I agree Jon sounds better than ever on both the guitar and piano!!

They did not play them in the same order as this last night. If I remember right I think they played IBAWY after MOL and DOA after EOTB. The rest was about the same. Not sure if I'm right. Anyway, it was all good!

Indeed it is. Actually it's a great opener too.

At my former band's last show - for the last song we played Separate Ways - quite fitting. :)

I gotta say, not playing WCN is a bad move IMO.

Nah, thank GOD they dropped WCN. That song at the Fresno show saw more people leaving for the beer and bathroom than any other song the whole night. People stayed for Chain Reaction and left for WCN. The song's boring, drags down a set, and has lasted this long only because of Neal's cool solo.

Granted, I like Deen's work on the song, but it's just a boring song.

Sep Ways, great opener or closer, either way. Familiar, instantly recognizable start, and a big scream to close. Perfect song all the way through.

Gotta say I favor dropping Keep on Running for Message too. I'd have cut Dead or Alive first, but hey. Maybe they'll do that in favor of Too Late later in the tour.

Great review TVL. Nah...Big J, leave DOA (always liked that one LIVE :) ) in the setlist....JSS definately has the energy to pull that one off.

I agree love Neals solo at the end of WCN... they could take out Chain Reaction--- just an opinion...

I'd much rather hear WCN then Open Arms, EOTB, DOA or CR.

My choice would be to cut or rotate EOTB, DOA, CR... (I'd prefer to cut them)...

...keep IBAWY, MOL...

... & add WYLAW, After The Fall and WCN, or rotate them too...

...then for the hard-core rockers add "Stand Up And Shout" for a double-encore - that would make for a perfect Journey show.

my perfect show... end with feeling that way anytime in the encore with seperate ways as the closer.... or maybe Just the Same way would be a hellish closer too!!
