Kevin Chalfant was my pick to front Journey. If you think "Show Me The Way" is good, you should hear "Can't Live Without Love" That last note he hits and holds is great.

I loved that Storm CD. Filled that void of Journey's absence quite nicely. That particular video was vintage! 8)

I read that he actually joined Journey for a brief period, just before Steve Perry rejoined the band. As far as I know, it went as far as him fronting the band for a couple of shows. I'm sure there are a couple of people here who know way more than me on this.

Sounds like Augeri, only a little tougher. Kind of Jamison thing going on more than Perry.

I heard that too- I've always wondered if KC joining made Perry want to come back for TBF.

Kevin is a first class person too. He is one of those people who is 100% genuine.

Not my favorite song from the Storm, but good nonetheless. Chalfant has a great voice.

Does anyone know of any other vids online? I checked, but couldn't find any.

At the time of his consideration, Chalfant could sing circles around Augeri and the by-then vocally debilitated Steve Perry.
Journey braintrust, Herbie H., has commented frequently on how Chalfant is a considerably better singer than Augeri, but doesn't look as good and isn't is as good of an upstanding citizen.
Does Herbie still feel Augeri is an upstanding pillar of moral rectitude even after TapeGate?

Only he knows for sure.

Funny, I can recall a certain soon-to-be ex-Journey singer that people used to say that about, too.

The Herbie interview is one thing that REALLY needs to be revisited. I'd LOVE to see what he'd have to say about tapegate.

HOLY CRAP!, what's wrong with me? I've agreed with a few things Fred's written here today.

Frankly, faking it not withstanding, I don't care what a rock "star" (within reason) does off stage. But he/she damned well better be singing LIVE when I'm paying to see them sing live. Same for athlete's/celebrities. (sometimes)

no Eric, you're right, no one's perfect, nor is anyone truely genuine. No matter what they want you to believe.

Too many people have had experiences. He INTERACTS with fans...not just throwing a msg on a forum once in a while. He used to join Journey chats regularly and talk with us. He posted regularly on his forum, when he had one. He interacts on his mailing list. A while back I ordered a CD from his site, and he personaly emailed me when there was a problem and we worked through it.

He IS "genuine". Is he 'perfect'? I doubt it...But, being the 'genuine' person that he is, I think even he would admit to that.

i have a VHS of a concert. I should dub that over to DVD, and then maybe upload it. They basicaly do most of the debut Storm album, "Black Magic Woman" "Feeling That Way" and "Just the Same Way" (I think). At the end, you can tell Chalfant wanted to do another Journey song but they do "I've Got a Lot to Learn About Love" for a second time as an encore.

Oh, Herbie said so? Well that changes everything! Except one thing: Chalfant couldn't sing circles around Perry if Perry was merry go round. Period. Stop talking nonsense. Not every one with a high voice is in Perry's club.

If you decide to do that, let me know will you? I'd enjoy seeing it.
