2 ideas for Journey (based on other concerts)

I've been to a few concerts lately. Some of the things I saw done are things I think Journey could do.

1. Hall & Oates sells a soundboard recording of the show. It's available for sale on their site the day after the concert. I bought one. It's so cool to have a recording of the show u attended. This also discourages boot trading somewhat. After all, who wants an audience boot if u can have a soundboard recording? With Jeff at the helm, Journey's vocals are now strong enough for this idea to work. Sell 'em for $15 or $20. Make them affordable. I suspect many people would buy them. Heck, give a coupon for $3 off if ur concert review is approved to go "live" on the site. That would encourage positive reviews of the shows too.

2. Toto led out last nite w/2 new songs. No one in the audience seemed to mind altho it was obvious that most there weren't familiar w/the songs & only knew the classics. It gave a nice taste of their new music early on in the show & still allowed them to save the older classic hits for later in the show.

Just my ideas....

Your first thought was brought up at BT a few years ago and never saw the light of day. Hopefully, now that it's been brought up again, they'll consider it. With all the technology out there now, it would be easy to accomplish. Even if they dont turn out as good as they want sound-wise, the quality surely would be better than any boot.

Some bands are hooked up with www.themusic.com - they have a thing called "Encore Series".

You can order a CD, a DVD or both of any preformance on the tour (soundboard and pro-shot all the way). The Who is hooked up with this, and I saw them in Sept, so I just ordered a DVD of the show I was at!

I think Journey fans would have a meltdown over something like that!!

I like both those ideas. I know I would like to have a copy of both shows I went to this summer. Especially the most recent in Columbia. I am still on a Journey high, and it was over a week ago. :)

I agree with this idea. I think it would be great to be able to purchase a show you were at officially on the band's website. I don't see any downside to this idea. You might even have people playing the CD to friends who missed the show and then seeing more new faces at the next one. I know I would buy one from the shows I was at. Maybe JSS will read this and perhaps put the bug in Neal's/management's/whoever's ear. I think it's a solid, solid idea that has many other proven bands backing it.

Neal already discussed possibly doing this.
Like many of his touted ideas, it never came to pass.

I think there would be too many issues w/ song rights and legalities.

Journey opened the Under the Radar Tour in '02 by playing a new song each night.

Do you think Augeri was really using tapes? What about Mansfield? :?
