Stop kissing Perry's ASS!

Bust his fucking balls. Challenge the guy to get off his ass and RECORD something! Stop being pussies. I just read a post that Dennis DeYoung couldn't carry SP's jock. It's the other way around. DDY still sounds AMAZING at his age and performs.

Steve Perry lets his fans down and rests on his laurels.

Let's tell this fucker to put down the pussy cat and prove himself at 57.

I am a fan, but he pisses me off. You stupid fuckers give him a free pass. Oh my, an actual interview - WHO GIVES A FUCK?

Put up or shut up Tucan Sam. Can you compete with a Dennis DeYoung, Ronnie James Dio or Robin Zander TODAY in 2006? Fuck no, and you know it bitch.

Prove me wrong. (I am hoping you do)

I wonder how many of the 2000 questions submitted said much the same?

Perhaps 1000 of them?

But only the Qs he wanted to answer were answered and even then, some were a bit lightweight.

But, I'm still glad Mr. Perry took to the time to respond and I'm sure his fans will be more than happy with that lengthy read and to hear that he is doing well.

Jesus Ed...

I didn't know you loved Dennis so much. Sorry for hurting your feelings  It's just music, dude! You need to lighten up. Who really gives a fuck if Perry doesn't feel like recording music again. At the end of the day, he probably doesn't have the ability to sing with the voice that would be required to meet the standard he set, and he's smart enough to understand that! The guy is almost old enough to collect social security, so if he feels like sitting back in his rocking chair and being amused by a cat, so be it!

John, you know I got no problem with you. Zander. Dio, DeYoung all are Social Security age almost and perfrom. I also have no problem with Perry not performing. He had an amazing career. But I get pissed when the loons dismiss other vocalists who are flat out amazing and act like Perry has no peers. Perry was great. However singing high isn't the be all fucking end all. And he doesn't perform any more, and many his age still do at an incredible level.

That's really all I am saying.

This is my problem with what you just said: Why does he need to be challenged? Why is he "supposed" to be recording something? He'll do it when and if he wants to. And what does it have to do with Dennis DeYoung or RJD?? So what? JUST because a couple guys are still doing it means they all should be?

I can't figure out where all the raging hostility for the guy comes from, just because he hasn't recorded anything for awhile. He doesn't owe anything to anything to anyone. Look, I will be as happy as everyone else IF he does, but if he doesn't....then he just doesn't. Would you want someone constantly pushing you to do things you weren't planning to do? Read the Q&A again - heslth issues...maybe that was taking precedent in his life? Hmm? Just maybe? There could be a million reasons why he hasn't recorded anything, and even if the reason is "I just don't wanna" then so be it.

Then again, hey...The Who finally got their asses back to recording new material after 24 years so who knows...maybe Perry just might surprise us. It's already been 12 years, so how about this, if I don't see something in the next 12, THEN I'll break his balls about it. Deal?

Roger Daltrey was perfroming live the whole time though.

However, yes you have a deal. Perry will be 69 by the end of this agreement though.

I agree with you 100% here, Ed! Singing high notes certainly isn't everything, when it comes to vocals. I just thought Perry did it better than most I ever heard. For the record, there are many vocalists who I enjoy, aside from Perry. Hell, I loved Axl Rose's vocals in GNR, and that was a VERY different sound! I'm just not someone who equates longevity with talent. The fact that someone has done something longer than someone else doesn't make me recognize them as a superior talent. There is simply more to it than duration. The Stones have been around longer than I've been alive (for the record, I'm 36!), and I'd rather listen to some schmuck sing Karaoke than listen to Jagger, but again, it's all just a personal preference!

Ok. You got me on the Daltrey thing. Seen him live 3 times.
Daltrey 3 - Perry 0. I'm not liking that score, but still... I don't feel owed.
I missed the Journey train in the 80s because of being too young, so I would love to catch him live but, if it doesn't happen then it doesn't happen.

Um... you said 69. heh heh.

Never thought I would actually say this but I tend to agree with you AR!He just danced around all the questions and we are left hanging....If any major singer had the fan base this man has got they would be in the studio recording. But we are left with re-makes and interviews.I love this guy but I am disapointed.I am very sad.

I totally disagree with Ed.

Ed, you sound like a fucking retard. The guy doesn't have to do anything. He earned the right to NOT have to do anything. Having said that, I think the guy actually cares how he would sound, unlike some others.....cough cough.

Those Journey songs were written in keys that are so tough for anyone to hit. Dennis the fucking poodle does still sound good, but singing a Styx catalogue versus a Journey catalogue, is a HUGE difference. Perhaps Perry is scared shitless that he cannot actually sing these classic hits anylonger? Hell, Ed, there is a reason Jordan, Gretzky and Elway all retired; they couldn't perform at the level that made them great. I admire the Hell out of Perry for stepping down when he did due to not feeling he couldn't sing at the level of earlier times. What he needs to understand is, his voice is so fucking good, that I would love to hear him sing today, even if Anyway You Want It was sung an octave lower. Who cares?

But dude, your relentless Perry crusade is so fucking embarrassing. The guy will go down as a top 5 singer of all time, and a voice that will never be replicated. Before all you Wigglers say, "ya, but you went on a crusade too, Dean," I would say, yeah, but the crusade I went on had a destination and a fucking good reason behind it. This personal hatred for Perry is beyond me.

As many here have said before about recent events: "It's the band's business.""They don't owe anyone a fucking explanation""Hey, you know what the reality is, just live with it and stop your bitchin'"

I think that most of those same sentiments can be applied here:

It's Perry's business when, where and IF he does anything.
Mr. Perry does not need anyone's "approval" to record except his own demons'
If you don't want to wait, fine - that's one less person in line in front of me.

Have a great day.

My turn....You all know I am a Perry Loon.....but how long do you all want me to wait? I am 64 years old and I don't want to wait another 12 years b/c by then I will be too old to dance to any music....what I am really tired of is the unanswered questions...all we get is maybe or I'm thinking about going into the studio..how long have we been hearing that...I will have to give up the dream and stop the waiting....its a waste of time...I will just continue to listen to the DD and enjoy them for what they are worth...there are other bands out there that are up and coming and we should check into some of them....JOURNEY just happens to be my favorite and always will be....the band is still active and making the music that I love with a new lead singer that is energetic, inspiring, full of life, a great talent. and oh yeah, very very nice to look at...

I would love to tell Steve Perry to get off his old ass and give me some new music before I die, but he doesn't want to or he would have done it by now....He was just to young to retire but thats LIFE....we have got to get over it....

Waiting for the next Journey concert.........
Carol

Yep, couldn't agree more. It would be NICE to have something new from Perry, but if it's not in the cards, it's not in the cards. Though I would love to see/hear more, I'm not getting worked up one way or another.

The Q & A was interesting, except I really could care less about some of the stuff that seemed to mean a lot to him, like his favorite restaurant, etc. I'm not making fun of what he cares about - I'm very glad he finds pleasure in those things - I'm just saying that's not what I'm jazzed about when I think of Steve Perry. I'm jazzed about the voice and the music.

...all we get is maybe or I'm thinking about going into the studio..how long have we been hearing that...

I think it's because he doesn't really know. My wife dated a guy before I came along who took HOURS to make decisions that most of us make in a few seconds or minutes. When he needed to buy shampoo, he would stand there, in the aisle looking at all the shampoos. He would pick up a bottle, read it, look at the price, put it back on the shelf, then pick up another one and do the same thing! Instead of buying what he had used LAST time, it was a new mission every time. Nice enough guy, but just buy the no-name brand! :D

Perry has a lot more to lose than finding out if he has dandruff from not getting the right shampoo and he alluded to that in this most recent Q & A. He needs to get into the studio to find out exactly what he has left. If HE feels it's good enough, THEN he would think about recording.

After all, he really has a lot to live up to...HIMSELF...and it's obvious he doesn't take that lightly. :)

If he never puts out anything new, then he never puts out anything new. Life doesn't have to stop for anyone else.
