Deen as a frontman!...

My friend sent me a pic of Deen singing lead at a show that I guess Augeri was down for, & Deen looked great up there! Course I think he's adorable anyhow :) . I actually would have loved to see that.

I'd post the pic if I had a clue how to, lol.

Just place the URL (web address) of the picture in between , no spaces.

Ugh, she e-mailed it to me & I'm at work now & can't open my e-mail. :(

I'll try that later though, unless someone else posts a pic first! lol :)

Oh, it's an email. You would have to post it online first. Email it to me if you want me to do it for you.

LOL!!! Poor guy, lol :).
Actually that must have been hard, esp. if he didn't expect it! I wonder if he had time to "warm up" or anything? I'm sure he did an incredible job either way. Hmm, anyone out there have any clips???

That's called singing your 'heart & soul' out. Putting everything you got into it! Which BOTH Deen and Jeff do so well! 8)

Great picture!!! I remember Deen's mom was looking for pictures of him singing out front after that show, and she (or his sister) posted about it on BT. I hope she got that picture!

Yes, it IS called that. HOWEVER, it is also called straining. Just goes to show how demanding much of the Perry-era catalog can be. It also demonstrates that singing someone else's songs can put an early end to your career. Just ask Steve Augeri. Deen saw that first hand and this is probably why he is content to just sing a song or two and remain behind his kit the rest of the show. A dummy he is not.

Jeff sings like that outside of Journey too, I have 3 dvd's of his doing Talisman, Queen, & the Gods dvd, that's just how he sings, he pours every ounce of his being into his voice when he's performing, and it's amazing.

I see things a bit differently. I think Jeff has a fairly smooth delivery. While I think he DOES, as you say, "pour every ounce of his being into his voice," I don't think his face is bursting with veins as someone allude to earlier. Rather, I think Jeff's tremendous range and technique actually make SOME of the Journey catalog appear easy for him to sing. I always thought Augeri was straining and I think Deen does on Open Arms and Faithfully. But only singing two songs doesn't have the repercussions a whole night and tour would. And Deen does a pretty fantastic job with the 2 songs he routinely sings.

Augeri sounded like he was straining to me also, but I don't hear any strain from Deen, JMHO. Just glad Journey has those 2 incredible voices!
